Hector and Alice emigrated to the USA but the rest stayed in the UK. Would love to hear from any family who knew of these people or who might be related!

Thank you for allowing me to post to this site. My grandfather, James C. Stephen, grew up in the area of Peterculter. He had the good fortune to meet Mark Twain as Mr. Twain came through and stopped at the bar where my grandfather was working. I am always interested in learning anything I can about my grandfather, he was the most amazing man in my life. He died in August of 1967 of a broken heart. He had lost the love of his life, Alice, one year earlier to the day. Alice was my grandmother, the best Nana a girl could have ever hoped for. Thank you for reading my post. July 15, 2010. 10:15 PM

I would like to find out as much as I can about the Bridgeford family connections in this area.The earliest I have got from the web site is John Bridgeford [Bridgford] married to Elspet Lyon . they had a son Robert Bridgeford, born on 4th December 1774, Kinkardine, Fife. He died on 29th jan 1845, Fintray, Aberdeen.He married Isabel Sharp.

I am seeking some local knowledge to solve a puzzle from 1883!

I have a beautiful writing desk that has the following inscription on it..

'Presented to Mr Allan Salmond by the members of the Peterculter Musical Association and friends as a mark of esteem on the 15th June 1883'

It has intrigued me for years who this desk belonged. Can anyone shed any light on the Musical Association or Mr Allan Salmond?

I cannot find any reference to either on the internet.
