Newly Found Virus Linked to Kansas Death After Tick Bite
U.S health officials are investigating a new strain of virus linked to the death of a Kansas man, who fell ill after being bitten by a tick, then went into organ failure and died about two weeks later. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that it’s working with Kansas officials to find any other cases. They’ve named the virus “Bourbon” after the county where the man lived.

India struggles with deadly swine flu outbreak
Indian health officials are struggling to contain a swine flu outbreak that has killed more than 700 people since it took hold in mid-December. The number of cases has doubled since last week to more than 11,000. Critics have accused the government of failing to distribute medicines, but officials insisted the situation was under control.

Libya violence: Islamic State attack 'kills 40' in al-Qubbah
A bombing by suspected Islamic State (IS) militants in Libya has killed at least 40 people and wounded dozens in the eastern town of al-Qubbah. Three bombs exploded, targeting a petrol station, a police station and the home of parliamentary speaker Agila Salah, a security source told BBC News. According to an online statement, IS fighters said they struck in retaliation for Egyptian air strikes.
