The Super Gospel (ENTIRE BOOK -- Over 16 Hrs o_O ENJOY!!!!!)

I was anxious to get into this video, called the Super Gospel, because it is a combination of many, many gospel written in addition to the four gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. A good way to understand how it is possible to have so many books giving accounts into Israel's history is to take for example; you have a town in which someone important has come to visit. After the person is gone, you go to various residents of the town and interview them of who and what they witnessed. This is what this Super Gospel is all about.

There is very little said about the parents of the Virgin Mary. The 2nd century Gospel of James is the first source to name her parents as Joachim and Anna.

This Super Gospel Book began with the story of this couple.

Joachim was a rich man, who had large herds of sheep & goats. He was known as a man who was generous and whom loved his God. His wife's name was Anna. They were a happy couple except for one thing: they had no children.

Can you imagine a God that would put restriction on a man of just where he would be able to stand and worship at the Temple to offer his sacrifice based upon the fact that he had not fathered any children?

This is what happened the day that Joachim came to make his offering. (It reminded me of the story of the lowely man at the back of the temple who cried out to God for forgiveness and to hear his prayers, while the rich, pompous man stood at the very front, reminding God of how he had prospered and wasn't a sinner like the guy in the back.) Joachim had all the right in the world to think he was equal to the other men. He was an Israelite, of the lineage of Judah and Levi. They knew him to be honorable, a wealthy man and a very generous humble man, always giving to the needy and for sacrifices, much more than was ever required.

That day, Joachim was standing with the other men when he was told he didn't have any right to stand there with them because he was cursed, according to their laws, because he hadn't even fathered a child. This public chastisement tore into the heart of Joachim so much that he couldn't even bear to go home to his wife, to face her or the neighbors who had, by now, heard about this public put-down. So, he fled to his far distant pastures and joined up with his herdsmen.

Five months had passed. Anna lamented over the disappearance of her husband. She withdrew to her own room in her sorrow and shame. In supplication she went before God, pleading her case that, not only did she not have any children but now, she was also a widow. After some time of doing this, she finally removed her widow clothes and put on her wedding dress and went outside to sit under a tree.

She heard her name being called twice by an angel of the Lord who told her God had heard her prayers and would give her a child. This child would be known the world over. She would be highly favored and she was to name her Mary. Three years after her weaning, she would leave her home and be presented to the Temple into the service of God, just as both Anna and her husband said they would do should God give them a child of their own. While in service to the temple Mary would fast and pray, keeping herself pure and not lie with a man.

Meanwhile, out in the sheep pastures, Joachim received a visit. An angel reminded him to stop his feeling sorry for himself and to remember how other women in Israel's past had also been barren. There was Sarah who conceived at the age of 90. Rachel also knew sorrow at seeing her sister give Jacob sons yet she could not until God intervened. The angel told Joachim that this all happened for a purpose and would be a testimony of what God could do and also it would produce a child that would fulfill a greater part of God's plan.

The Angel of the lord began to instruct Anne's husband of the same things that were told to Anna. They would have a daughter, her name would be Mary and she would be dedicated to the Lord and be given to His service at the Temple. Also she would be filled with the Holy Spirit in her mother's womb. (This reminds us of another who was filled by the Holy Spirit in his mother's womb, doesn't it? And that boy would be the cousin to the Lord Jesus Christ, known as John the Baptist.) Mary would be kept pure for the very special purpose of being the earthly womb that would bear Yeshua, which means "He shall Save His people". Joachim was told to take his offering to the Temple and his wife would meet him at the Golden Gate. That would be the Eastern Gate through which the Messiah would ride, many years later.

Anna did as she had been told and with her maid-servant traveled to Jerusalem and waited at the Golden Gate. Meanwhile, pure lambs were chosen out of the herds of Joachim. As stated earlier, this was a humble and generous man. He chose the best of the herd of which were 100 for the offering on behalf of the people alone. Can you imagine how large this prime herd was that would be sacrificed at the temple that day from Joachim alone?

The couple were re-united at the Eastern Side, shared what they had been told and knowing that God's Word was true that was given to them, he went to the Temple the next day, wondering what kind of reception he would receive this time. As if by knowledge from God Himself, the Temple priests did not rebuke him; he was left alone to stand before His God and give oblation unto the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Nine months later, the little girl Mary was born.

This is the introduction to the 16 hours of inside information we may never have had into the lives of these people except that there were other gospels written. For our great blessing, we are being given the opportunity to listen or read about the lives of people who contributed to the greater story of God's Plan for mankind.
