Before the beards! New photo reveals Duck Dynasty stars prior to their fame... as fresh faced and clean cut young men

They were the bearded stars that no one saw coming.

Just over a year ago, few people outside the hunting industry had ever heard of duck call creators the Robertsons, but now the family and their show, is the most popular on television.

Their huge success can be attributed to their unusual ways of dealing with problems and, of course, their glorious long long beards.



The Robertson men - Is, his brother and founder of the Duck Commander company, Phil, and his two sons Willie and Jase - are renowned for their fully fledged men of the wilderness facial hair.

But just a decade ago, it was a very different story with the ruff and rugged men looking more like a Haynes T-shirt commercial.

In a never-seen-before image taken in 2001 obtained by Life&Style magazine, there is not a whisker between Willie, Alan, who has just signed on to be on the show, Jase and Jep, who has largely been just a guest star until now.

Posing with their mother Kay - who goes by Ms. Kay on the show - the fresh faced boys look tanned and very, very clean.

All wearing white, the family look more like a Kardashian Christmas card, especially in comparison to their usual cameo attire.

With the duck calling business making them millionaires before they were famous, the recent explosion of attention - Duck Dynasty draws almost 12 million viewers for A&E, making it the second most watched cable show of all time - has not affect the down to earth clan.

A family friend told Life & Style they group have as much Southern charm as they always have.

The insider said: 'They’ve all stayed pretty much the same over the years, even with the fame and fortune.

'They’re all so grounded.'

Even without the show, the family's hunter aid business will net them around $45 million this year alone.

The insider did reveal that despite his serious nature on the show, third son and CEO if the company, 41-year-old Willie, is actually quite the prankster of the group.

'Willie has always been the jokester of the family.

'And Jase and Jep have always been quieter and more reserved than their brother Willie.'

Alan is, however, the odd duck out having only joined the show this season.

For one he is the only one in the family to have not gone down the bearded road.

Also, while he claims to have been the Duck Commander's first employee helping his father out as a child, Alan left the family business behind to work in the family's other main interest - God - as a Christian pastor.
