Hello all,

I know that most of us see this phrase as pertaining only to the world and the unbeliever right before Christ comes, but I feel this relates to the spiritual condition of the modern day church because it has lost its love of the Truth.

First, it is interesting to note that there is only one verse in the whole of the Bible that uses the exact words “peace and safety”, only one!! There is one other verse that uses both words, but not together, and I will end this post with that verse.

We must keep in mind always that the Bible was written to and for believers.

It is to BELIEVERS that these verses were written:

1Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief."

The lukewarm, foolish virgins are the ones thinking they have SPIRITUAL peace and safety…they are baptized, they go to church, therefore they think they are saved….adhering to man made traditions and not the Holy Word of God. These are the in name only Christians that will be thrown into the great Tribulation because they are not born-again and indwelt with the Holy Spirit. They are not walking with Christ; don’t have a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. You have to walk with Him and talk with Him and follow Him wherever He goes, not where you want Him to go.

The Harlot fallen away Churches of the end-times are the foolish virgins…that is why Christ has told born-again believers to come out of her. This is the church that believes that by its own efforts, it is saving mankind. This is blasphemy….but it plays right into the one world religion, the religion of the antichrist.

It is to them that Jesus also says:

Rev 2:22 “Behold I will cast her into a bed and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.”

No one on this earth, in their right mind, is thinking that the world is a peaceful and safe place!!! Jesus is not talking about a physical feeling of peace and safety in this world. It is spiritual!!! It is people who think they are saved by this false gospel, and are no longer worried about their eternal destiny.

It is ALL ABOUT THE SPIRITUAL…THE RACE WE RUN IS A SPIRITUAL RACE. That is why I feel that worrying about what the NWO is going to do is worrying too much about the PHYSICAL. God is always going to be in charge and we must believe His Truth and not the false doctrines of men. Believing that He is coming in secret to take His people out of Tribulation is having faith in these false doctrines and not the Truth. And, by doing so, think that one has peace and safety from what is about to come upon this world, when that certainly is not the case!! Judgment starts at the House of God. He will test and try us to see if we are truly His.

And while I am on the subject, I think people are wrong to keep asking for a signs from God….especially about what the enemy is going to do…it is limiting and distracting. If you ask in prayer and receive what you asked for, that is good, praise the Lord with thank-you!! If you are truly His, He anticipates your every need; therefore asking for signs seems a sign of a lack of faith and total trust in Him.

I feel there is nothing wrong with speculating and seeing the signs that appear, but date setting and gnat staining are not signs of anything spiritual, and takes away from time spent in His Word where one lets Him speak to you, PERSONALLY. Granted, it is so exciting to be learning new things everyday about how everything fits together, and then sharing these things with other people…it is awesome and very addicting. I am one of those addicts, so I have to keep remembering to leave some space between, to let His Spirit speak to me directly. I am trying to become more addicted to that!

Psalms 4:8 is the only other verse in the Bible that uses the words peace and safety in the same verse. The following verses are for the wise SPIRITUAL virgins, that KNOW that their only peace and safety is by resting in the Hand of Jesus. And, I for one, stand it awe of that!!!!

Psa 4:4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Psa 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD

Psa 4:6 [There be] many that say, Who will shew us [any] good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us

Psa 4:7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time [that] their corn and their wine increased

Psa 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety."


If we are His we have His Peace and abide in His Safety, no matter what is happening in the world. Worldly Christians think they have the peace and safety of being raptured out of Tribulation, and this is a false peace and a false security.

JESUS IS ALL AND EVERYTHING!

I am bumping this up because it goes well with how fast everything is happening and how important it is to have a living relationship with the Lord. All those in name only "Christians" are the ones that Christ is speaking to when he says "they will be saying peace and safety when sudden destruction comes upon them". It is the end time churches that He is addressing, as the Bible was written for believers. Most think it is Jews in Israel, and that may be an earthly refection, but it is really about the spiritual state of the "rich, in need of nothing" church. Those that are all form (religion) and no power (the TRUTH).

They have been deceived into thinking they are "saved"...they have peace and safety"...when in reality they are blind and naked (no power of the Holy Spirit)and when the sudden destruction of their world comes upon them they are swept away with the unbelievers.

Frightening! How sure of our "election" is each of us? This has become a daily spiritual battle, so easy to slip on the slime of the evil that surrounds us. As Linda S. continues to remind us (thank you Linda) "Hold on to our crown", and she is so right. Each true Christian is in the midst of this battlefield and the battle is happening right before our very eyes. Yet, more importantly it is happening spiritually to each of God's people the nearer we get to the end. May we all hold on to our crowns!

Our only Peace and Safety is Jesus and His Holy Spirit living inside of us!

Hi Patti,

It is good to hear from you! I love to see what the Most High is doing in the lives of our brothers and sisters personally and spiritually! It sure helps to know what the need is and what to pray for on one's behalf.

You are so right about the state of our brothers and sisters who THINK they can relax in this peace and safety illusion. It is a scary thing and as you said "this has become a daily spiritual battle", for we are in for the fight of our lives...our very souls.

It is very interesting indeed, that the elite are building there "peace and safety" places in holes and the clefts of the rock, leaving chaos and destruction for everyone else, to soon find...they themselves will be calling for the very rocks to fall on them, to hide them from the face and wrath of the Most High.

I'd like to add a few verses of scripture to support your observation, if it's OK!

Awaken Pastors, teachers, brothers and sisters, out of darkness and into His marvelous light!

Jer 23:14-

16 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord.

17 They say still unto them that despise me, The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.

18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?

19 Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. 20 The anger of the Lord shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart:

in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.

21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

Great to hear from you and thank you much for your comments and additional biblical support. Excellent! You really enhanced this study. So much turmoil and tribulation in the Body of Christ, as the birth pangs of the Truth comes upon us, and as we watch darkness descend on the "Holy Place". May the Lord bless each one that is fleeing from the false gospel and finding refuse in His Word and Love.
