Sometimes videos don't bring out valuable points as clearly as the written word does. Seeing things written down may be more conducive to understanding...because we can stop and think, and not add in someone else's verbal opinions. Steve Wohlberg's video on the 70th week of Daniel was good....but some things are more clearly seen written down.

Daniel 9:27 says nothing about the death of Jesus Christ. It simply says that Jesus will "cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease" within that "week". And He did this when He was baptized before He was crucified.

Leviticus 16:10..."But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the SCAPEGOAT, shall be presented ALIVE before the Lord, TO MAKE AN ATONEMENT with him, and to let him go for a SCAPEGOAT INTO THE WILDERNESS."

Jesus Christ fulfilled this ATONEMENT required by God as a Scapegoat of God (during His baptism), and then going off into the wilderness for the next 40 days. This BEGAN the 70th week of Daniel.

Jesus was the "true" Goat at this time. And although the Temple priests continued on in sacrifices until 70 AD, they were, essentially, irrelevant in God's eyes.

But then, God's requirement was the "Blood of the Lamb" sacrifice as well....and that happened on the Cross of Calvary.

The last "week" of Daniel began with the baptism of Jesus Christ, and it ended 3 1/2 years AFTER the death of Christ, when the Gospel was sent to the Gentiles...Acts 28:28.

If you are given a WEEK off from work, you would be off work for 7 consecutive days. No boss in the world would accept you coming back after 3 1/2 days and telling him that the "rest of the week" you've chosen to take a month later. A "week", by definition is SEVEN CONSECUTIVE DAYS. If it were not, it could not be called "a week". The 70th "WEEK" OF Daniel is no different.

CONFIRMED TO ISRAEL FOR SEVEN YEARS

Jesus confirmed the covenant with Israel for a special period of seven years. He originally came to natural Israel.

John 1:31 ...that should be made manifest to ISRAEL

Mt 15:24 I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of ISRAEL

He sent His disciples as follows:

Mt 10:5,6 Go not into the way of thee Gentiles... go rather to the lost sheep of the house of ISRAEL

Jesus ministered to Israel during His 3.5 years of ministry. And then He was "cut off." This implies that His life ended before the natural span would have ended it. What about the remaining 3.5 years? According to Daniel, the disciples must have continued preaching for the next 3.5 years solely to the Israelites. And they did!

Jesus told them to go into all the world and preach, but this did not occur until after 3.5 years following the cross. In fact, Jesus said to begin preaching in Jerusalem, then to Judea, and then Samaria and finally to the uttermost parts of the world. On the day of Pentecost Peter preached to the Jew, first, the great message of Acts 2:38. No gentiles were ministered to as of that time.

Acts 3:25,26 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant... unto you first God, having raised up his Son, Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities

Acts 13:46 It was necessary that the word of God first have been spoken to you

In person, Christ came to Israel during the first half of the "week" -- three and a half years. Through the disciples ( for the three and a half years that remained), his message still went to Israel, "the Lord worketh with them, and confirming the word with signs following" (Mk 16:20).

But when Cornelius was saved in Acts 10 the picture changed. Acts does not give us the date this occurred, but careful following of the events in Acts tells us that this was the end of the latter 3.5 years of ministry. Only then did the Gospel fully begin to be preached to the gentiles.

Acts 11:18 When they heard these things, they... glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the *Gentiles* granted repentance unto life.

Jesus Christ completed, or caused to be completed, the FULL WEEK of Daniel...there is no more to come. "It is finished"....John 19:30. Those were His last words, and I believe Him.
