Much of future prophetic events seem to hinge on what date the Book of Revelation was written by the Apostle John.

It is said, by some, that it was written BEFORE 70AD, and therefore, indicates that 70AD was the fulfillment of Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 prophecies. And others say that if it was written around 96AD, then the prophecies of Revelation must be future. So, when was the Book of Revelation written?

By using deductive reasoning it had to be written in 96AD, which is the later date. I say this because historical events say that John had been persecuted with many attempts to kill him prior to his writing the visions of Revelation. He was an OLD MAN when he was on the Isle of Patmos. And if it had been written BEFORE 70AD, he would only have been in the middle years of his life. He was a young man during his Apostolic years, so in 70AD he would not have been more than 60 years old, at the very most. In 96AD he would have been approximately 86-90 years old.

That fits much better! Therefore, the Book of Revelation events COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED BACK IN 70AD. It shows things that have past, were present and ones yet future...see Revelation 1:19.

I believe the events of Daniel 9:27 have been fulfilled in 70AD. However, there are still major prophecies yet to be fulfilled in the near future as well. We have never yet seen the "mark of the Beast" connected with "buying or selling"...but we can see signs of this coming in the future.

There is a rather good article on how some Scriptures might be fulfilled BOTH, in the past AND in the future but in different ways. I don't necessarily agree with everything in the article, but he brings up a lot of very good points.

I just can't believe that everything has already happened in the past...and all we can hope for in the future is the world progressively getting worse WITHOUT the Lord interfering in a way that the whole world will see....and judgment comes to those who are "destroying the earth"...see Rev.11:18. That has not yet happened!

From recorded history we know that in the 70 A.D. forerunner
and type of what will take place at the end time, not one single
Christian was killed in the destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman
armies of Titus. They saw Jerusalem being compassed with armies,
waited for the opportune time (which God gave them) and fled the
city. They fled when they saw Jerusalem compassed about with
Gentile armies, NOT when something was done inside the Temple.
The prophecy has nothing to do with the a Temple in Jerusalem. It
has nothing to do with a person doing anything outside or inside
a physical building, that some could want to call a Temple. The
prophecy has to do with Gentile ARMIES compassing about the city
of Jerusalem, and getting ready to capture and desolate and
destroy it (Keith Hunt).

It's just something I've thought about but have never heard about from others. There are many layers to Bible prophecy and some make it "cut and dry"...one way or the other. And it just may be BOTH...with added "spiritual" effects. We shall see soon enough...
