I hope that title really "grabs" a lot of Christians because this truth needs to be heard. The bible says that there will be great apostasy in the last days, or a "falling away" from what is bible truth...and it is here.

"Ye shall know them by their fruits...."...Matthew 7:16. What is the "fruit of today's "churches" and all the "new" (and more and more "newer and better", and "more understandable", etc) bible versions??? Is the world getting better and more "Christ-like"?? Then, something has gone awfully wrong, don't you think?

Know what I think that a "church" meeting should be like? People talking to other people and discussing differences so that we can ultimately arrive at the truth.

One example is THIS WEBSITE!! Steven allows the views of anyone who wants to post their ideas. Yes, there are disagreements, but this happens amongst human beings, which we still are, even though we are believers and are "saved" through the Blood of Jesus Christ.

AND DO YOU REALIZE THAT STEVEN RUNS THIS WEBSITE, WHICH PROBABLY COSTS HIM MONEY, AND HE HAS NEVER ASKED ANYONE FOR MONEY? That's a true "Christian spirit" within him. We can tell if it's a good tree by it's fruit. Look at what he does and not just what he says. No, this is not a plea to send money to him, and I don't deny that he might need it....but he doesn't ASK us to pay for his time and his personal costs. And the cost of it never runs through our minds. That is called the Christian way. What anyone does with this knowledge is up to them and God. Where do you learn more about Christian things...here, or sitting in a pew listening to a "man" for an hour or so?

And what do most "Christians" feel about other Christians who try to tell others truths of what they have learned? They are tossed aside, or they are accused of not being "Christ-like" or don't have a "Christian spirit"....I can't count the many times in the past that I have been told this. I am all about the TRUTH!! And sometimes the truth isn't what you want to hear....BUT, as the now-famous expression by Jack Nicholson in "A Few Good Men" said, "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!" A lot of us can't...or won't. Actually, we have a biblical mandate to confront others when we believe a person is wrong in actions or doctrine. And then, we are supposed to search the bible for the truth....ourselves!

Christians today regurgitate doctrines they've learned spouted from the pulpits, and NOT what they have learned from reading the bible. Then they criticize others who do. One of the last "churches" I attended was in North Carolina. I walked out because the "preacher" said to us (the whole congregation), "Leave your bibles at home, and even then, you have no need to read them. I will tell you all you need to know."

And all the people clapped!! I walked out! I lost a lot of "friends" that day. People who tell the truth that others don't like are called lots of bad (and not very Christian) names. So be it! God will be my judge.

And I give thanks to Steven if he posts this. Most other "Christian" websites would not.

I agree with you Arlene that most of the churches today are apostate and have departed from sound doctrine. The Bible should be preached as the word of God in the churches, and you were right to leave that church whose pastor said to leave your Bible at home. I left the last couple of churches I attended because the pastors were not preaching the whole truth from God's word.
