What Is Saturating Your Life

As we begin another year it can be a fun time to ponder what the new year will have in store for us. Some people enjoy making resolutions for themselves, and for others it's a good time for retrospect to evaluate their lives up to this point. For all of us it is a great time for a 'mental' fresh start in considering the possibilities we have for doing some 'good' things for ourselves, our family and friends, as well as neighbors, and even strangers. However, it should be first and foremost, a time to dedicate another year of service to God, but unfortunately, it seems to be getting harder and harder to find people who will honor God by putting Him 'first' in our fast paced lives today.



So, what is saturating and filling your life as we begin 2013? We are not talking 'saturated fat' here, although doing something to and for our human bodies certainly attracts a lot of focus, especially from the product 'commercials' we are saturated with every day in every form of media. Few people though would admit to or even realize that what we are truly being saturated with on a daily basis, with even greater frequency than commercials, is pure, unadulterated evil, with a 'global' intensity as never before experienced in the history of our world. Only a person with their head buried in the sand could not notice that the level of evil in the world just keeps getting worse and worse with every passing year! Of course this is not a surprise to anyone who has studied the 'signs of the times' in the Bible, which lead us up to the 'end of the age' (not the end of the world) and the coming rapture of Christians, followed by the start of the seven-year Tribulation Period, dominated by the activities of the Antichrist!



Have you ever heard or read about the time Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness? In the biblical book of Matthew it is recorded that the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory; and Satan, the prince of this world, said to Jesus, "All these things will I give You, if You fall down and worship me." But Jesus said to the devil, "Begone, Satan! For is is written, you shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only." If Jesus could be tempted by Satan, how much easier can we mere mortals be tempted by Satan? The words Jesus used to rebuke Satan at that time should serve as an example and reminder for all of us on how we should be living in today's world . We have sadly become an exceedingly self-centered 'me' generation...doing whatever it takes to get us ahead of the next guy in our quest to acquire as many worldly 'things' as possible, as we work to advance the cause of 'Numero Uno'. So, exactly what is saturating your life today...is it love, peace, joy and contentment? Or do you try to find 'fulfillment' in your life with more money...the glitz of sports...the aspiration for fame...the drive for power or control...the obsession to be the best at something...the desire to work your way up the corporate ladder, etc, etc, etc. James 1:11 in the Bible say..."the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away." In Matthew 16:26 scripture says, "for what will a man be profited if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?" Is your soul in God's hands or Satan's hands? There is nothing wrong with having goals and achieving things in this life, because God desires us to have abundant lives, but God should always have 'first' place in your life! Perhaps this new year is an excellent time to evaluate where you stand with God.



Currently, it is very obvious that much of the human race is saturating itself with evil. We are on a 'futile' quest to acquire lasting popularity, or fame, or fortune, and especially the fountain of youth, by surrounding ourselves with every flashy, exciting distraction possible in order to help make us forget that we are 'finite' beings with physical death waiting for us after a relatively short time on this planet earth, followed by an 'eternal' destination in either Heaven or Hell. Sometimes it is hard today to discern the subtle differences in false religious teachings circulating about in the world, but the fact is there is only one God, and we should all be seeking His 'truth' and guidance for our lives. Despite a popular 'bogus' belief these days, we humans are not able to turn ourselves into a bunch of little Gods determining our own destiny...that is just one more example of how Satan is deceiving a lot of people and leading them into self-destruction on their way to an eternal date with Hell and the Lake of Fire.



Most people I'm sure are familiar with the 'three wise monkeys' of see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil fame. There was a reason they were called the 'wise' monkeys, because we should all attempt to see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil, but it seems to be an almost impossible task these days. No matter where we go or what we do, it seems we bump into evil at every turn. If you want some examples of evil saturating our lives, let's start at the top! As a collective group, with a few exceptions, world leaders exhibit poor 'leadership' examples for their own citizens and for people around the world with their actions, words, and general behavior, which are quite often laced with evil. Satan has a firm grip on most political leaders and as a result they are so 'full of themselves' that any potential leadership qualities they may have once possessed have been diminished and corrupted...just as Satan wants it. Satan's primary 'targets' in this world are the 'leaders' in every facet of society, because he knows better than anyone that if you start at the top...evil will roll downhill to the rest of mankind...and to Satan's delight it has certainly done that with splendid success. Of course every evil leader needs a right hand person or entity, and so it seems that Satan has attached his evil strings to 'mainstream media' and turned them into nothing more than 'puppets' to promote his evil thoughts and propaganda, not leaving much room in newsrooms for good old-fashioned, responsible, objective, and professional journalism in both the research of facts and the reporting of news. Very few broadcast or print journalists today would qualify for a place in the three wise monkeys, because the new mainstream media motto is more like 'see no good, hear no good, and speak no good.' I used to think the only profession in mainstream media where you could do a 'lousy' job and yet keep your job was to be a weather person, but now that tendency seems to have spilled over to most news reporters, news commentators, and news anchors, especially at the national news level. Satan has found a reliable source to feed his evil to the people of the world.



Satan has not only found the perfect way to get out his evil message in words through the news media, but he is getting out his message of evil as well through 'imagery' in today's so-called 'entertainment' business. Satan seems to have a lock on nearly 90% of imagery projected on the movie screens, on television, on computers, in video games, in advertising, and on all the latest hand held imagery devices and gadgets. Satan is preparing this world for his other right hand person, the Antichrist, to be visible in every corner of the world when he comes front and center on the world stage during the Tribulation Period. Through all the forms of modern imagery capabilities, the Antichrist will be able to deliver his 'captivating' speeches to all corners of the world. People will have no excuse to not hear or see the amazingly magnetic 'charisma' of the Antichrist. Satan is also orchestrating the current efforts towards a 'one world government' in order to ready the world stage for the Antichrist as well. Also, another primary target of Satan has been 'children', because he knows that if he influences the minds of youth as early as possible he will have great success in creating all kinds of societal ills. Fifty years ago Satan began taking Christianity out of schools and government in America, and out of as many other public forums as possible, and he continues with that work up to the present day with the willing help of aetheists and others, and the results have been a smashing success for Satan. Add up all the evil things mentioned above and others not mentioned...and Satan's almost 'finished' product is the world we see before us. How does our world look to you today?



Will we ever learn that the 'eternal' cost is too high for us to turn the spotlight on 'me' instead of God? Each one of us is created by God not to have a cushy, selfish, gluttonous, fun-filled life from start to finish, but to answer the call of discipleship and be of service to God in this world by doing goods things for His cause. But just to make it perfectly clear, you cannot get to Heaven simply by performing 'good works' on your own merit, just because you consider yourself to be a 'good' person and a 'good deed doer.' We are saved by God's grace alone, not by works. However, once you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you will not only be going to Heaven, but you will 'desire' to do good things for God and Jesus while here in this world, and you will actually earn 'rewards' in Heaven for the good works you do in this life in service to God's kingdom. You can be sure that any earthly rewards or awards we might receive along life's way, say for example an Olympic Gold Medal, a shiny National Championship trophy, or a sterling silver Super Bowl trophy, will 'pale' in comparison to the Heavenly rewards waiting for many Christians, along with their Heavenly 'mansions' Jesus went to prepare for Christians.



Try saturating yourself with the Word of God by reading the Holy Bible on a daily basis. Being in the 'Word' really is the 'first and last' thing you need to saturate your life with each day. By daily feeding on the Word of God you will find the guidance and strength you need to take on 'one day at a time' going forward into the future, while performing God's work using the 'unique' talents He has given to each one of us...as you follow His Will for your life. Philippians 4:8 in the Bible states, "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things."
