Hello, John and Doves,

Whatever other foundations for any nation may be proven to have existed [and to be even now extant], it is clear from the Holy Scriptures that each generation is responsible for reaching its own and its neighboring generations.

It is written,

"The word of the Lord came to me, 'Son of man, speak to your countrymen and say to them: ‘When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman....' " [ This refers to the AC--chosen by a democracy. ]

Ezekiel 33:1 NIV


Clearly, the debate of the religion of the Founding Fathers is interesting, but not foundational, if you get my meaning. We worship Jesus Christ because He is God, not just because our Fathers may have said so. And we don't worship any other God besides the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.


It is written,

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

"Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

"Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high...."

Hebrews 11:1-3


In other words, God wants a deep, personal relationship with each one of us. That can begin whether one is aware of the philosophical bent of one's forefathers or not.

It is written,

“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

2 Corinthians 6:2

"Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,
and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him."

Isaiah 30:18 ESV


We do not have to wait for historical inspiration to hit us.

"3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins."

2 Peter 1:3-9 NIV

This is what is meant by the passage,

"This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, 'It is through faith that a righteous person has life.' [Habakkuk 2:4]"

Romans 1:17 NLT


Lest someone think that faith comes through studying history, it is written,

"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."

Romans 10:17 ESV


So, the Faith of the Founding Fathers is important to protect, for it is written,

"Thou shalt not bear false witness...." However, it is by far more important to make the Good News of Jesus Christ one's own heartfelt passion.
