Bruce. Brother I have to hold you to a higher standard when it comes to the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 24.
You wrote;

Then they both go on to tell us the Parable of the Fig Tree in (Matthew 24:32) and (Mark 13:28) "I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened." That leaves no doubt that it is the rapture of the Church that is being discussed in these previous Scriptures.

Therefore, the Scriptures tell us that the CHURCH IS RAPTURED AFTER THE TRIBULATION WHICH IS SHORTENED AND CUT SHORT for the Church only.

Now you can understand the following Scriptures:"

Bruce, you do know that Jesus is talkling to the Jews in this chapter? He has not died yet...the rapture was an unknown promise.Bruce what Matthew 24 is.......Is Jesus telling them about the 7 year tribulation. He IS NOT talking to the church !!!! Re-read the chapter and lay it along side Revelation....they line up perfectly. Do you see it now?

Bruce, ask yourself, "what is the 7 year Tribulation for?

Answer: 1. To punish the Christ rejecting "earth dwellers"

2. To Bring God's "harlot wife" back to him........God the father took a wife, Israel. She played the harlot and for a while he left her. But now, soon, He's ready to take her back. He will do that in the Tribulaton. The Old testiment book of Hosea is the picture of this. Hosea has to marry a harlot to give the people a visual demonstration of their unfaithfulness to Yahweh.
Purposes of the Tribulation

•

To prepare Israel for her Messiah (Jeremiah 30:7 ).
•

To purge unbelieving Israel (Ezekiel 20:37-38 ).
•

To pour out judgment on the unbelieving Gentiles ( 2 Thessalonians 2:12; Revelation 3:10 ).
•

To bring a conclusion to the times of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24), which began when Jerusalem fell into the hands of the Gentiles in 586 B.C.

She, Israel, gave us a son, Jesus !!!! God gave his Son a Bride.......the Church. The "BrideGroom" will have His Bride BEFORE Yahweh begins the process of taking His harlot Wife back!!

Now Bruce, answer this question please. If we are washed pure by the Blood of Christ and presented to the Father as clean, why would you put the Bride in any part of the "Christ rejecting punishment of the earth dwellers? It just doesn't fit!

I hope you see this........ as it is very concerning to see scripture twisted and tortured here on 5 doves.

You said that Jesus is talking ONLY to the Jews and not His Church in Matthew Chapter 24, and that he had not yet died and the rapture was yet a mystery.

Sure, Jesus was talking to the Jews, JEWISH BELIEVERS that is, and ALL BELIEVERS TO COME (ie. His Church) to the end of the Church Age. He knew that He was going to be rejected by the unbelieving Jews and crucified. He also knew the mystery of the rapture as the plan for the Church at the end of the Church Age, and so He described what would come about for His Church of believers at the end of the Church Age. The Olivet Discourse as a prophecy for His Church of believers at the end of the Church Age. THE OLIVET DISCOURSE IS NOT FOR THE UNBELIEVING JEWS.

Hi again Mercer,

You say that Jesus is speaking only of the Jews in Matthew Chapter 24 and not the Church.

Would you not agree that in Matthew Chapter 24 Jesus is speaking to "the elect" ?

Matthew 24;22
"...but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened."

The following Scripture tells you exactly who "the elect" really are:

Colossians 3:10-12
"And have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where THERE IS NEITHER GENTILE, NOR JEW, CIRCUMCISED NOR UNCIRCUMCISED, BARBARIAN, SCYTHIAN, SLAVE NOR FREE, BUT CHRIST IS ALL AND IN ALL. Therefore, as THE ELECT OF GOD, holy and beloved.........."

So now you know that IT IS 'THE CHURCH WHO ARE THE ELECT' SPOKEN OF IN MATTHEW CHAPTER 24.

Dear Doves,

When Jesus gave the 'Olivet Discourse' as written in Matthew Chapter 24 and Mark Chapter 13 He was not only speaking to the believing Jews at the time, but He was also speaking to His Church at the End of the Church Age.

Matthew 24:22
"If those days had not been cut short, no one would survivr, but FOR THE SAKE OF THE ELECT those days will be shortened."
Mark 13:20
"If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But FOR THE SAKE OF THE ELECT, WHOM HE HAS CHOSEN, He has shortened them."

The following Scripture tells us exactly WHO THE ELECT ARE:

Colossians 3:10-12
"and HAVE PUT ON THE NEW MAN ( born again ) who is renewed in knowledge according to THE IMAGE OF HIM who created him. where THERE IS NEITHER GENTILE NOR JEW, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but CHRIST IS ALL IN ALL. Therefore, AS THE ELECT OF GOD, holy and beloved....."

Therefore, "the elect" spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 24 and Mark 13 are "the elect of God" "whom He has chosen" who are the born-again Christian Church because they "have put on the new man" and so now "there is neither Gentile nor Jew", but "Christ is all in all."

Bruce,

thank you for being a 'barbarian' for Christ. Regardless of your rapture position, you are always providing scripture to go along with your interpretation of it. Thank you for not twisting God's Word into what you would like it to be!!

I'm sure you, as well as everyone else on this site, would prefer a Pre-Trib rapture...this is a 'Blessed Hope' we all share. However, if I'm honest with myself, this may not be the case. We just might be here until the mid point of the trib....being raptured immediately after the mid-point as you have pointed out.

I believe the "pre or mid trib?" question is what Christ means when He said that He wil return on a day we do not know. I hear convincing scripture that seems to say pre-trib, as well as those that seem to imply a mid-trib rapture, so I can't say i am 100% certain of either. But that's where the immenancy of Christ's return comes in....i know He's coming but don't know when, so the BEST way to prepare myself is to watch...and always be ready to meet the Lord!!

Thank you for continuing to be the 'barbarian' for Christ!
