Note that Jesus when tempted by satan always refers to His Written Word for defence...'it is written'...note this phrase was found total of 80x in KJV...63x in New Testament and 17x in Old Testament...
Matthew:4:4: "But He[JESUS] answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
v7: "Jesus said unto him[satan], It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."
v10: "Then saith Jesus unto him[satan], Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."
