Dear John and Doves -
In Deuteronomy 24:5 we read,
"When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war or be charged with any business; he shall be free at home one year, and bring happiness to his wife whom he has taken."
This may not appear, at first blush, to be a pre-trib verse, and I'm fairly sure the ancient Jews didn't see it as such.
When Jesus returns, He will come as a man of war. He will slay His enemies and then set up His kingdom and begin to administer it. It does not appear that there will be any "down time" or vacation time. Therefore, we MUST be taken at least a year before He returns. It's the law.
As I write, it's Tishri 11 in Jerusalem and 9:30 PM on Saturday evening here in the eastern U.S. It appears that Yom Kippur has passed, and we are still here.
However, Mary and Martha also thought they were "out of time." We may be similarly premature. We and our spiritual forebears have been praying for 2,000 years that "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." We are getting what we prayed for. Keep looking up.
