OntarioGenWeb Census Project - Ontario Census Transcripts 1790's to 1911
Volunteer Appreciation Page

Since the inception of the OntarioGenWeb Census Project in 1999 we have been blessed with the assistance of dozens of dedicated volunteers. It is due to their hard work that we are able to offer free Ontario census transcripts for your viewing. Please take a moment to send these volunteers your thanks.

Thank you for all the hours you have spent in transcription! I can only imagine trying to decipher many of the names that are now rarely used, in addition to deciphering a variety of handwriting! Haven’t found what I’m looking for yet, but been able to rule out some dates and locations due to your work. I would never have access to many of these resources if it weren’t for all of you! Gratefully, Jill

To say thanks to all the volunteers, doesn\'t seem enough, with your help I have located so much of my family on both sides, as well as both sides of my husbands. To everyone starting out to find their family, don\'t wait until its too late (meaning that there is no one left to say if you are on the right trail) So again, would like to thank all the volunteer\'s, so it is a bit easier. thanks again

I was at a dead end in regards to my great, great grandfather and I found him on the 1871 census and once and for all I now know he was born in Canada and his nationality was German. It was assumed he was English.
It turns out I am the only one in the entire family that knows this fact. Thank you ever so much.

Thank you so much for all your efforts. Hopefully I will be able to track down some of my Davis ancestors using your transcripts of censuses. It certainly is a lovely puzzle to work at and a joy to find some of the relatives to add new branches to the family tree.

Thanks, I am in the states, but I was born in Canada. My grandmother was adopted in 1906 and I am trying to fullfil a wish of hers from long ago. My father worked on this for many years and now that he has passed away, I feel that it is my duty to proceed. Thanks goodness for the internet.

Thank you so much for your pre-1851 township census transcriptions! They have helped me begin to track down my BARDEN ancestors. My 4x great grandfather, Job BARDEN, was the town clerk in rear of Leeds & Lansdowne and later in Yonge township. I'm sure he would be honored to know that you are publishing his recordings for all to see.
Sincere thanks for your GREAT efforts!!

A thousand thanks for your hard work. You have saved me hours and hours of work and research. Now thanks to you I have 2 microfilms to view instead of the 13 microfilms I was having to go through. I am forever grateful. Merci

I was tickled to find my grandmother listed as a 3 month old on the census, but when I found my greatgrandmother listed as a 4 year old on the 1871 census, it was a surprise how teary it made me -- we overlapped lives for 30 years -- just to think of her as a toddler. Not only heartfelt thanks for the transcriptions, but my thanks to all of Canada for promising never to sell the census. Beth

Yours is one of my favourite websites. As a long-distance newcomer to Ontario geneological research (Vancouver transplant from the prairies; only been at this one year), you've been invaluable in helping me sort my way through the numerous Nicholsons in Ontario's past. Still a long way to go, but I REALLY appreciate the information you provide, and thanks for keeping it free. Deb
