CHILDREN OF MEN film, 2007

http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2006/sep/22/juliannemoore.thriller

Has anyone seen it? I'm about half-way through it & it does have some very Survivoristic overtones, quite a few 4 letter words, made in the UK & set in the future. Interesting.....

Re: CHILDREN OF MEN film, 2007

Hi Bob, I have the film in my collection. It is bleak, futuristic and grim, but very good in atmospheric terms. It does end with some hope for humankind but not much. It portrays a very controlling society, like other films, Logans Run, Soylent Green to name two. I bought it because I like Clive Owen, but I did see the Survivor/anarchy type connection. Society in children of men is stretched to breaking point and anarchy seems very near. In my film list, (which nerdily is on excel and alphabetically listed) it is described as SCI FI as opposed to post apoc which Survivors is listed as. I am about to watch 'one hundred mornings' which love film have finally delivered, will let you know what I think of that soon

Re: CHILDREN OF MEN film, 2007

I have just watched One Hundred Mornings
pretty much like they said on the IMDB
Slow but interesting, very mysterious as we are not told what the apocalypse was.
Good exploration of characters, plenty of time for them to develop. Small cast but well used, Police begin as protectors and end up as looters, friendships and alliances change and deteriorate. They didn't seem to make enough use of the huge loch or lake their cabin is situated near.
A bit of an ambiguous ending.
This is a must for those interested in the post apoc genre.

One Hundred Mornings.

Just watched this. Well worth the week it took to download - the internet is so slow out here in the wilds of Oxfordshire.

Society ends, as one suspects it will, not with a bang but a whimper.

Thanks for that Pete - a sort of Survivors set in Ireland, I'm downloading it myself, looks like a 4 hour job here

Download & burn to a blank DVD, it should play in most DVD players, or from your computer.

Your will also need a program such as u-torrent

Or you could try Amazon for £5 as I have done now - I feel guilty after downloading good quality stuff . It will arrive quicker too ...
