Rentboy.com CEO pleads guilty to promoting prostitution
The chief executive officer of a once-popular male escort website pleaded guilty on Friday to promoting prostitution in a federal case that prompted accusations of anti-gay bias. Jeffrey Hurant admitted in federal court in Brooklyn that he broke the law by promoting "the exchange of sexual conduct in return for a fee" on his Rentboy.com site.

Final appeal set for Pakistani Christian woman facing execution for blasphemy
A Christian woman facing execution for blasphemy in Pakistan has been granted her final chance to appeal next week, after the country’s supreme court set a date for Asia Bibi’s last hearing. In a case that has gained international infamy, the mother-of-five from rural Punjab was convicted in 2010 for defaming the Prophet Mohammad during an argument with a group of Muslim women over a bowl of water. She has been on death row ever since.

German town in lockdown over suspected bomb attack plan
German police said they were evacuating a building in the eastern city of Chemnitz on Saturday on suspicion that a bomb attack was being planned, and told residents in the affected district to stay at home. Police appeared to use force to enter the building, and said on Twitter: "The explosion heard was an access measure by the police. A relevant person could not be found.

Syria conflict: US calls for Russia and Syria war crimes probe
Russia and the Syrian government should be investigated for war crimes, US Secretary of State John Kerry said. "Russia, and the regime, owe the world more than an explanation about why they keep hitting hospitals and medical facilities and children," he said. "These are acts that beg for an appropriate investigation of war crimes."
