Coalition air strikes, Turkish artillery kill 31 Islamic State members in Syria: media
U.S.-led coalition jets and Turkish artillery killed 31 Islamic State militants in Syria, the local Dogan News Agency reported on Saturday, without saying when the attacks occurred. The Turkish army fired howitzers at 33 targets in northern Syria to take out Islamic State weapon systems as the militants prepared to shell sites across the Turkish border, Dogan said.

Official map finds Zika-transmitting mosquitoes in much of U.S.
Mosquitoes that can transmit the Zika virus have been found to live in nearly all U.S. states... The maps show the two breeds of virus-carrying mosquitoes, the yellow fever and the Asian tiger mosquito, can live in the nation's northernmost states of Michigan, New Hampshire, Washington state and Minnesota, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Syria: Twin bombings rock Damascus suburb Sayyida Zeinab
At least eight people have been killed in a twin bomb attack on a suburb of Damascus which is home to Syria's holiest Shia shrine, state media say. Some 13 other people were wounded in the blasts, which were caused by a suicide bomber and a car bomb. The suburb of Sayyida Zeinab, some 10km (six miles) south of central Damascus, has been a frequent target of attacks.

Libyan forces 'retake Sirte port from IS militants'
Libyan forces say they have retaken control of the port in the city of Sirte, after fierce fighting with militants from so-called Islamic State. Sirte is the most significant IS stronghold outside Iraq and Syria. Air and missile strikes have hit IS positions this week, officials said. A spokesman said troops were moving closer to the city centre.

Al-Qaida leader pledges allegiance to new Taliban leader
Al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahri, in an online audio message, pledged allegiance to the new head of the Afghan Taliban, who was appointed last month after his predecessor was killed in a US drone strike. Multiple Earthquakes Recorded In Oklahoma
A 3.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded near Medford, Oklahoma, Thursday morning. It was the latest of three overnight earthquakes. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, this earthquake was recorded at 6:15 a.m. Its epicenter was located 16 miles south-southeast of Medford, and 19 miles northeast of Enid. It was about four miles deep.
