9:1 For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

2 For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.

3 Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:

4 Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.

5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.

6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

9(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;

13 Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;

14 And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

A Tithe means a tenth and every Christian has been hit with the messages about being a good steward and tithing to the church/pastors. While the New Testament Church will say they are free from the Law, they use the Law to make sure that every member gives a 10th of his income to the church. But, do they have a right to make this claim. Let's take a look at it.

Tithing has everything to do with FOOD. Food for whom, you might ask. For the Levites, the priests of the Temple who unlike the other Tribes of Israel, did not have Land allotted to them.

Since they did not have Land to grow food for themselves or their families, they were totally depended upon the other 11 Tribes of Israel for their food and drink. Yahuah made this Law to provide for them and for the Temple of Yahuah. This freed the priests of the Temple to do what they were required to do. They could concentrate on God's Word.

And how often was this requirement made of each person? This was done every THIRD year, not every Sun Day or a yearly Tithe.

If a Israelites lived a great distance from the Temple and unable to carry his allotment of food from his land, he would take money to purchase whatever he wanted to provide food and drink for his family while they spent their time at the Temple. Every community put their portion of food and drink into their local Storehouse where any Levite or poor person could come and take freely from the Storehouse. Isn't that a great way to provide for those that do not have?

What is done in today's society? The pastors will give their yearly sermon about tithing and you were made to believe that it was to be a 10th part of your yearly income...not every three years.... but every year.

It is left up to you how you want to divided it up to be given weekly, monthly or yearly but it was way more than Yahuah ever designed in the first place. The modern Christian Church uses an Old Testament Law to rob the people of more than the Law ever taught in the first place and for the wrong reasons. Today's pastors are given an income by the church which the Levite priests did not receive.

Aren't we also told that God loves a cheerful giver? Is putting the screws on you for a 10th or Tithe cheerful or honest? No, it is not. It becomes cheerful when you give according to your ability to give and from your heart. This means, not always putting it into the basket that is passed before you but giving to the poor when you see their need. It means being keenly aware of your fellow-man who needs help.

So, read it for yourself. Also know that a person that keeps the Law will be judged by the Law but he who does not will also not be judged by the Law.

Leviticus 27:30-34 (NIV)
30 “‘A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord. 31 Whoever would redeem any of their tithe must add a fifth of the value to it. 32 Every tithe of the herd and flock—every tenth animal that passes under the shepherd’s rod—will be holy to the Lord. 33 No one may pick out the good from the bad or make any substitution. If anyone does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute become holy and cannot be redeemed.’” 34 These are the commands the Lord gave Moses at Mount Sinai for the Israelites.

Malachi 3:7-10(ESV)

7 From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you say, ‘How shall we return?’ 8 Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you. 10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

In the Christian Churches of today, the Storehouse has become the Bank Vault of the Denominations. How about those TV Evangelist who are always crying for money, promising you will be blessed? They know how to beg with their phoney tears, don't they. And because Believers don't understand their Bibles, they become easily scammed to give 30% of their income rather than the 10% and even more in most cases.

AND you just try to give a pastor some tomatoes or eggs as the Law speaks about and see how quickly his smile will turn into a frown.

"Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.

Yahuah looks upon our hearts. He knows if we are giving with a good heart or because we have been made to feel that it was a requirement to give 10% every check one received. I hope the reader has found liberty in this lesson.

And Woe unto you preachers that dare to use an Old Testament Law and apply it to your ability to gain more money yet you do not keep the rest of it.
