Syria war: Third of rebels share IS aims, report claims
About a third of rebel groups in Syria - some 100,000 fighters - share the ideology of so-called Islamic State (IS), new research suggests. The Centre on Religion and Geopolitics, linked to former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, said defeating IS militarily "would not end global jihadism". That would require an "intellectual and theological defeat" of its ideology.

China landslide: 22 buildings collapse in Shenzhen industrial park
Some 22 buildings have collapsed in a landslide at an industrial park in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen. About 900 people have been evacuated, with four people pulled alive from rubble with minor or no injuries, the local government said. No fatalities have been reported. Shenzhen's fire brigade said it was working to free other trapped people. At least 22 remain missing.

Bomb found on Air France flight headed to Paris
A bomb was found on board an Air France flight heading to Paris on Sunday after a suspicious device was discovered in one of the plane's toilets. Air France Flight 463 was flying from Port Louis, Mauritius toward Paris, France, when it made an emergency landing in Mombasa, Kenya, according to the Kenya Airports Authority.

3.1 Earthquake Strikes near San Ramon, California
A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Saturday morning in San Ramon, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:34 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.6 miles.

Chile earthquake: Strong tremor strikes east of Ovalle
A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 has struck east of the city of Ovalle in Chile's Limarí province, seismologists say, with shaking felt over a large area.
