Most U.S. Muslims would trade Constitution for Shariah
...According to a local newspaper report, Omar Ahmad, a founder of CAIR, told a conference hall packed with California Muslims in July 1998 that Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. ...A poll...in May 2015 by the Center for Security Policy showed that 51 percent of American Muslims preferred that they should have their own Shariah courts outside of the legal system ruled by the U.S. Constitution.

IS conflict: France launches air strikes in Syria
France has carried out its first air strikes against Islamic State militants in Syria, the president's office says. French planes had hit targets identified during reconnaissance missions over the past fortnight, the statement said, without giving details. The French prime minister said the strikes had hit IS "sanctuaries where those who attack France are trained".

China pledges $2bn for developing world
Chinese President Xi Jinping has pledged to establish a $2bn (£1.3bn) fund to assist developing countries and to significantly increase investment. Addressing a UN summit on development goals, Mr Xi said investment would reach $12bn over the next 15 years. He also said China would cancel debts to the world's least developed nations, including small island nations.

CAR clashes in Bangui after Muslim taxi driver killed
Deadly clashes broke out in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic (CAR), after a Muslim motorbike taxi driver was killed. About 20 people have been killed with at least 100 others wounded in the violence. UN peacekeepers took up positions as the fighting spread from the city's only Muslim neighbourhood to an area where many Christians reside.

US support for Syria rebels illegal, Putin says ahead of Obama meeting
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday branded US support for rebel forces in Syria as illegal and ineffective, saying US-trained rebels were leaving to join Islamic State with weapons supplied by Washington. In an interview with US networks recorded ahead of a meeting with US President Barack Obama, Putin said Syrian President Bashar Assad deserved international support as he was fighting terrorist organizations.

Iran vows legal action against Saudi after hajj disaster
Iran on Saturday vowed to take international legal action against Saudi Arabia's rulers over the crush of Muslim pilgrims at this year's hajj, which killed at least 769 people, including 136 Iranians, and has led to an escalation of tensions between the regional archrivals.
