The Iranian government is now demanding the finished nuclear deal be re-opened for negotiation, again. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei demanded earlier this month that sanctions be lifted entirely, rather than simply suspended as agreed in the nuclear deal signed in July.

Saudi Arabia's civil defense directorate said the crush happened at around 9 a.m. local time (2 a.m. ET) after there was a "sudden rise" in the number of pilgrims traveling along a major road leading to the site of a stone-throwing ritual. This "resulted in a stampede among the pilgrims and the collapse of a large number of them," the directorate said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia: At least 310 die in deadliest haj stampede since 2006
At least 310 pilgrims were killed on Thursday in a crush at Mina, outside the Muslim holy city of Mecca, where some two million people are performing the annual haj pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia's civil defense authority said. At least 450 others were injured in the crush, which took place on Street 204 of the camp city at Mina, a few kilometers east of Mecca, where pilgrims stay for several days during the climax of the haj.

The most elaborate mosque ever built in Moscow, a city that is home to one of the largest concentrations of Muslims in Europe, was opened Wednesday by President Vladimir Putin. The Office of Personnel Management announced Wednesday that 5.6 million people are now estimated to have had their fingerprint information stolen. That number was originally thought to be about 1.1 million, OPM said in a statement. About 21.5 million individuals had their Social Security Numbers and other sensitive information affected by the hack.

Refugees are flooding Europe, and due to a shortage of temporary housing, 21 refugees are being housed in the former Buchenwald camp near Weimar, Germany. The town of Shwerte decided on the unusual move after it absorbed 200 refugees and had no room or funds to provide for more.

Russia Deploys 28 Warplanes to Syria
In a serious escalation of its military presence, Russia deployed 28 combat aircraft to its base in Syria. A senior United States official said on Monday that 12 Su-25 Frogfoot ground-attack planes and 12 Su-24 Fencers had arrived at the Russian base in Latakia, adding the ability to strike at ground-based targets.
