India’s Abstention at the UNHRC: Implications for Indo-Israeli Relations
On July 3, 2015, in a manner uncharacteristic of its longstanding position on the Israel-Palestinian issue, India abstained from voting on a UN Human Right Council (UNHRC) resolution that censured Israel for “alleged war crimes” during the 2014 Gaza conflict. Traditionally, India has almost unfailingly supported resolutions condemning Israel’s alleged violations regarding the Palestinian issue. On this occasion though, India joined Kenya, Macedonia, Ethiopia, and Paraguay in abstaining. Of the remaining 42 members of the UNHRC, 41 voted for the resolution, and only the United States voted against it.

Egyptian billionaire offers to buy Mediterranean island to accommodate refugees
Naguib Sawiris, a billionaire and philanthropist from Egypt, has announced a bid to purchase land in the Mediterranean which would be used to provide refugees a new home, CNN reported on Friday. "Greece or Italy, sell me an island," Sawiris tweeted. In another tweet, he suggested calling the island "Aylan" after the Syrian boy who made international headlines after pictures surfaced of his drowned body washed ashore in Turkey.

Pope calls on every European parish to host one migrant family each
"I appeal to the parishes, the religious communities, the monasteries and sanctuaries of all Europe to ... take in one family of refugees," he said after his Sunday address in the Vatican.
