British lawmakers back EU referendum plans
Lawmakers on Tuesday backed Prime Minister David Cameron's plan for a referendum on Britain's EU membership, but a heated debate highlighted passions that could split his Conservative Party and re-open Scotland's bid for independence.

Ukraine conflict could spark 'all-out war'
Alexander Hug, deputy chief of the Special Monitoring Mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) said: “The Special Monitoring Mission [SMM] has seen a sharp increase in tension levels in the conflict since June 3. “We see no indication of adhesion to the first measure of the Feb. 15 Minsk Agreement, which calls for a ceasefire.”

5.3-Magnitude Earthquake rocks Nepal’s Sindhupalchowk
An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit Nepal on Thursday night, a media report said on Friday. The National Seismological Centre of Nepal said that the epicentre of Thursday’s quake was in Sindhupalchowk district, 65 km off Kathmandu, Xinhua news agency reported.

Asama volcano (Japan): alert level raised
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) raised the alert of the volcano from 1 to 2 (on a scale of 1-5), as the volcano has recently been showing growing signs of unrest - increased seismic activity and strongly elevated gas emissions.

Kaspersky says the virus was extremely difficult to detect, but they did manage to uncover it with some new testing software they’ve been working on. They added that all their customer data is safe. Kaspersky claims the hackers made a mistake, as now Kaspersky has the virus’s frameworks, which they described as being a generation ahead of anything they’ve ever seen.

The sharp bond market selloff is starting to pinch American consumers and companies, causing a mild economic tightening that, if sustained, could raise alarms at the Federal Reserve and even delay a plan to hike interest rates in coming months.

DHS secretly videotaping citizens to 'predict crime'
...On Tuesday, the DHS quietly released online a “privacy impact assessment” that provides the legal justification for an ongoing experiment it is calling “Data Collection for the Centralized Hostile Intent Project.” ...The DHS is planning to collect video images at designated areas throughout the (T. F. Green Airport) airport, including at TSA security checkpoints, ticket counters, baggage claim and the airport entrance.

U.S., Russian aircraft came within 10 feet over Black Sea
A Russian fighter jet, flying at high speed, came within 10 feet of a U.S. Air Force reconnaissance aircraft in international airspace over the Black Sea late last month, several U.S. officials told CNN Thursday. The Russian jet flew alongside the U.S. plane at the same altitude, broke off, and then shadowed the plane before leaving the area in the May 30 incident, the officials said.

Zimbabwe dollars phased out
Zimbabwe is phasing out its local currency, the central bank says, formalising a multi-currency system introduced during hyper-inflation. Foreign currencies like the US dollar and South African rand have been used for most transactions since 2009. Local dollars are not used except high-denomination notes sold as souvenirs.

Boko Haram crisis: Nigeria to lead regional force
Five African countries have agreed to set up a joint military force led by Nigeria to fight the Islamist militant group Boko Haram. The leaders reached the deal at a summit hosted by Nigeria's new president Muhammadu Buhari, who made tackling it a key campaign pledge. Around 180,000 people are expected to party in central Tel Aviv Friday for the annual Gay Pride Parade... The march will begin at noon after a party at Gan Meir on King George Street.
