Pope Francis announces pilgrimage to Holy Land
Pope Francis has announced that he will make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land this coming May to mark a key moment in Catholic and Orthodox Christian relations. “In this atmosphere of joy, typical of this Christmas time, I wish to announce that from 24 to 26 (of) next May, God willing, I will carry out a pilgrimage in the Holy Land,” he said after the Jan. 5 Sunday Angelus to the crowds filling St. Peter’s Square.
Mysterious Flashes of Electricity Likely to Occur near Rifts: Study
As per the view of researchers, the rapid increase of tension at these almost vertical faults may cause electrical current to flow to the surface. This may also cause the strange lights to show up. Prophetic twist to Sharon's imminent death
With the death of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon expected imminently, the chronicler of the life of Israel’s venerated Rabbi Yitzhak Kaduri’s prophecies is much in demand by the media. NOAA forecasters estimate a 75% chance of M-class flares and a 30% chance of X-flares on Jan. 6th. A coronal mass ejection (CME) is heading for Earth. The cloud raced away from the sun during the late hours of Jan 4th following a long-duration M4-class solar flare from big sunspot AR1944. The assymetric CME is expected to deliver a glancing blow to Earth's magnetic field on Jan. 7th.
Afghanistan girl, 8, wearing suicide vest detained
An eight-year-old Afghan girl wearing a suicide vest has been detained by police in southern Afghanistan. She was held on Sunday night in Helmand province, as she tried to carry out an attack against border police wearing a suicide jacket, a spokesman for the Afghan interior ministry told the BBC. The girl, thought to be the sister of a prominent Taliban commander, is said to be in a state of shock and confusion.
UK storms: Giant waves hit amid fresh flooding fears
Huge waves are beginning to batter the southern coast of the UK, as forecasters warn exposed areas could see a fresh round of flooding. Waves of up to 27ft (8m) have been recorded off Land's End, Cornwall. USGS records several earthquakes in Oklahoma
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the largest of the three had a preliminary magnitude of 3.7. Its epicenter was 10 miles north-northwest of Langston and 13 miles west of Stillwater. It struck at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. A preliminary 3.5-magnitude quake was reported at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Its epicenter was 1 mile north-northeast of Cherokee. The USGS says a third earthquake hit at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday. That quake had a preliminary magnitude of 3.2 with an epicenter 9 miles north-northwest of Chandler.
