HOME…one of my favorite four letter words!



I am not now, nor have I ever been a social butterfly. I have always been a homebody, as they say. I love to be home. I can’t wait to get home each day from work. I can hardly wait to get back home even if I’m having fun on a vacation, away somewhere.



Regardless of whether your home is a mansion, igloo, brick suburban home, grass hut, old farmhouse in the country; new, old, fancy or plain, I think we all love to come home. Even if all you have to come home to in this world is a doghouse out in the yard, I think even animals love to come home. I have heard of dogs and cats coming home from very long distances, sometimes hundreds of miles. Because HOME is much more than just a dwelling; Home, is where we’re safe. Home is where we’re comfortable. Home is where we…belong!



Even the word “home” is powerful, isn’t it? I think of how it’s used to describe a starting point and an ultimate goal all at the same time. For instance, home plate,

home room; home page, home base, home town.



It is the “base” -- the final destination where we all seek to eventually wind up.



Me…well, I’m feeling a bit guilty and selfish these days because to be perfectly honest with you, while I realize that God is not done with me on this earth yet, and while I realize that there are people on this earth who are depending on me in various ways, I want to go HOME so badly that I can taste it! I’ve been singing that old hymn called “This World Is Not My Home” for the past several days.



Remember this one?



This world is not my home I’m just a passing through.
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door.
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.
Oh Lord you know I have no friend like you.
If heaven’s not my home then Lord what will I do.
The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door.
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.



As much as I love my earthly home and as much as I love my family and am so thankful for the wonderful blessings that have been showered on me her on earth from my Father, I simply cannot wait to go Home to heaven and see His beautiful face! I want to see so many loved ones who have gone before me─some I knew here on earth and some I have not yet met. I want to see, smell, taste, feel and hear every wonderful thing that He has prepared for me there! And…I admit that I want to go there NOW!



1 Thessalonians 4.16-18:



“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” (NKJV)



Please come quickly Lord Jesus, I am HOME-SICK! How I want to go HOME!
