I am ashamed to say that out of the mouths of self-righteous "Christians" have come words filled with hate and judgement over others that they, themselves, deem worthy of being "tormented in hell forever".....

And, I am also ashamed to admit that, at one time in the past, I was among them. I have, since then, repented of this grievous sin!

And lately, I have been to "Christian websites" (not this one, Praise God!) where this judgement is heard over and over again. When some "child of God" is speaking about some unsaved person who does a heinous deed, their comment is "I hope they burn in hell forever"...or "I'm so glad they will get what's coming to them in hell's never-ending torment."

Have they never read Matthew 15:10-11..."And he called the multitude, and said unto them(Jesus is speaking here) (vs.11)Not that which goeth into the mouth DEFILETH A MAN; but that which COMETH OUT OF THE MOUTH, THIS DEFILETH A MAN."

These same "loving" Christians condemn anyone who drinks wine, or eats something they feel is not a "Chrisitian thing to do", or condemns someone who doesn't "go to church" (a custom which IS un-Biblical)....and they spew forth condemnations of "hellfire and brimstone" thoughts for those whom they disparage in some fashion.

Is this a CHRISTIAN MIND AND HEART that spouts forth these evil, and hateful statements?? All too often....yes!! And it's because they have no knowledge of God's MERCIFUL plan for ALL OF HIS CREATION....nor do they care to hear it!!

I am not the only one who feels this way.....I just pray with my whole heart that others will come to see the truth...

Conclusion


The doctrine of eternal punishment is an evil, apostate doctrine that makes God out to be the most inhumane, torturous, blood-thirsty Being ever created in the minds of men. It is an invention. It is false. It is a lie. It is not justice. It is not love. It comes forth out of the evil imaginations of religious men. Men who either consciously or subconsciously want or need their God to punish those they hate.

The majority of people who believe this are sincere, God-loving people who simply have believed the lie told to them by the leaders they have pledged to follow. Many of these Christians have done only a rough cursory look at the subject, and without testing the words of their pastor or teacher, and without using the thinking skills that God gave them, have bought into this lie hook, line, and sinker. There are those who love to talk about eternal hell (you could almost see them licking their chops as they preach about it), but in my experience most Christians don't really like to talk about it.

Oh, they'll mention it once in a while because, after all, "it's in the Bible," but I think subconsciously they really are uncomfortable with the idea of a loving God doing such a horrendous thing -- particular for those who have family members who have rejected all forms of religion and have passed away.

I believe this teaching, more than any other, have turned more people away from God than to Him. I'm also convinced that belief in this man-made doctrine effects the behavior of men who believe it. It is often said that men, more or less, emulate the God they worship. Listen to the words of 19th century British theologian, Andrew Jukes:



"For it is not unbelievers only that are hurt by such teaching. Those who believe it are even more injured. For our views of God re-act upon ourselves. By an eternal law, we must more or less be changed into the likeness of the God we worship. If we think Him hard, we become hard. If we think Him careless of men’s bodies and souls, we shall be careless also. If we think Him love, we shall reflect something of His loving-kindness."



If we want men to worship a loving God, we must present Him that way, both in word and deed. If we want men to act justly toward others, we must present them a God of TRUE justice not a perverted version no better than ourselves. I will close with one more quote from Andrew Jukes:



"when I remember that such men have said such things, and that words like these have been approved by Christians, I can only fall down and pray that such a night may not return, and that where it yet weighs on men’s hearts the Lord may scatter it."

When we speak to others of the "Gospel (GOOD NEWS) of Jesus Christ", how can we be sincere if we believe in the doctrine of eternal hellfire and ****ation....eternally....for all unbelievers??

And, do we REALLY believe it ourselves? If "Aunt Sarah", or "Uncle John", or a beloved son or daughter has died unsaved....do we tell others what we actually BELIEVE?? "Aunt Sarah is now burning in hellfire for eternity", or "Uncle John"...etc. In our hearts, we hold out SOME faith or hope that things will be different than what we have been taught to believe.

Or do Pastors lie at funerals for the unsaved? "So-and-so" is now in the Hands of Jesus, blah! blah! Do they believe it??

AND YOU WILL BE JUDGED FOR WHAT YOU COME TO BELIEVE....Count on it!!
