How does one know they are "saved"? We can only know by what our inside "spirit" tells us. Nobody can point to you and say, "You are a Christian" and know it as "Gospel truth". We are unseen, and unknown, EXCEPT TO GOD and to the "Holy Spirit" within us.

It's a process! We have to be "born again" into the spiritual, unseen world through the power of God. No man can do this by himself, or for himself. We come to our Father as "children", and we know nothing...or very little. As we DEVELOP THE DESIRE to learn more about our Father, we study the Book we have been given, and slowly....and surely....we grow in grace, knowledge, and maturity. It's a lifetime journey through this wilderness of this present world. The more we study, pray, and get to know our God, the more we just KNOW that we are IN HIM, and He is IN US.

This story is a precious example of how it is in the beginning for us, but it tells of an eagle. But, I don't think it's too different for us in the beginning:


A son of God can go a long time before he is awakened to the fact of his sonship. In fact a lot of God's children are like the story of the baby eagle that was hatched out under a hen. You know that the eagle is a type of the sons of God who live and soar in the high places of the Spirit. Well, a farmer took an egg from an eagle's nest and he placed it under a hen. In due time all the eggs under the hen hatched out. The baby chicks got along fine with the mother hen but that little eagle could not figure out the clucking and scratching for food in the manure pile. He managed to make a living but he was pretty confused about it all. But one day, from way up in the air the mother eagle that had laid the egg spied that little eagle on the ground. She swooped down with tremendous speed and screamed at the top of her voice for him to fly up to meet her. He had never heard an eagle cry, but when he heard that first scream something in him stirred and he longed to launch out toward it. But he was afraid to try. Again that mother screamed for him to arise in the wind and follow her. He screamed back that he was afraid. Once more she called out, screaming that he try. Beating his wings he hurled himself into the air, and answering the cry of his mother, he soared off into the blue skies. You see, he always was an eagle! He acted like a chicken for a little while but he could not be satisfied. But when he heard the call of the great eagle he came to his own place. And once a son of God hears the cry of the Spirit by the Word, he too, will realize who he is and run to the great eagle who begat him to be seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We are "being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever" (I Pet. 1:23). We are born again when we hear the living word of God speaking to us, calling us to arise and be all that God has ordained for us!

This was taken from a long article by J.Preston Eby. I'm not sure of the author of this piece, but it really touched my heart. And I hope it does this for others.

I just want to put forth a warning to all "baby Christians". Be careful HOW YOU LEARN ABOUT GOD. Not all churches tell the truth. In fact, most churches are wrong. There is only ONE "Church", and it is the "body of Christ". Only ONE "Church" can hold the truth. This will determine if you are heading in the right direction....the right way is "narrow", and FEW find it....see Matthew 7:14.

There are many Christians who have been "babes in Christ" for many years...never growing and never learning more....II Tim.3:7. And some will tell you that "ye shall know them by their fruits"...Luke 6:44. However, many Christians today are unable to determine what "fruits" they are seeing...or if they are seeing thorns instead of "fruit". It takes many hours of study, prayer, and endurance to learn the differences.

But it all BEGINS by just "knowing" you are called. And you can only determine that for yourself...just as the baby eagle knew.
