Peril is right, in more ways than one.

Here's a personal experience of Elijah and myself a couple of years ago.

We visited a church on invitation, all expenses paid, in East Asia three times over the years, and Elijah and I ministered to this young house church. Over the years there were 25-35 attending.

On our first visit Elijah found that there were in that church at least 3 couples living together in fornication. He pointed out their error, and two of the couples later married, and the other couple split up. So all was fine, or so we thought.

We paid a second visit, and all appeared to be fine and we were warmly received as before.

We were ready to pay them a third visit two years ago, but we received a letter in the mail a week before from one of the young people there who had left the church and said the young pastor had been living in adultery with an older woman with grownup children, which was unbeknownst to Elijah and myself even during our other visits there. When they were married, the pastor and his wife told their congregation not to say a word to Elijah or myself.

They believed the scripture in Hosea 1:2 that it was okay for them to be married, and that they could better serve the congregation since she had presumed to have spiritual gifts of her own. Well, Elijah flew to visit them this time to again - alone, as I declined to go in that situation, and the next day a second witness came up to him the first day and asked him if he knew about this adulterous marriage.

Well, Elijah confronted the pastor and his wife that day over their adultery and the entire congregation who had greeted him warmly, now turned against him, to a man, and sent him back early to Cyprus. It has been over two years now and no one in that congregation has been in touch with us to apologize. So that entire congregation of 35 young people who at that time sided with their pastor, remain deceived. Sad.
