"What is in a name? Biblical words and names used in modern times"

We watch for signs and try to make meaning of them. But, what if we miss the handwriting on the wall?



Shakespeare asked the question, "What is in a name?"



That very question used by Shakespeare came to my mind while reading an article by Cynthia Nuara on Rapture Ready. It was titled Beware the Ides of March.



She wrote,

"You will hear the words “treaty” and “agreement” and “accord.” These three words mean the same thing. I will use the word “covenant” as it says in the bible.


We’ve heard it said that when the antichrist confirms the covenant with many, this will begin the seven-year tribulation that will herald the return of Christ. I want to discuss this prophecy in Daniel 9:27.


o Orthodox Jewish Bible: “And he (antichrist) shall confirm brit (covenant) with rabbim (many)…" (There are bible scholars who believe “many”refers to Israel).

o Hebrew-English Bible: “And he shall make a firm covenant with many…”

o King James Version: “And he shall confirm the covenant with many…”



Get that? Rabim means many. So what covenant did Rabim work on that still hasn't been implemented?

Nuara quotes Jack Kinsella in an article titled The Coming Prince...



“The covenant the antichrist will confirm is based on the formula of “land for peace” the formula upon which the Oslo Agreement (September 13, 1993 –September 13, 2000) was based. So the treaty exists,

but collapsed before it was fully implemented. The antichrist is said to ‘confirm’ the covenant, not write it, or negotiate it or sign it. He ‘confirms’ it. One cannot confirm anything unless it first exists!



You probably have read the meaning of Barak Obama's name, but while we are looking at names appearing in the scriptures we'll refresh your memory.



Barak means lightning and Bama or Bamah means heigths. This reminds us of Luke 10:18

"He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."


Now look at this.



Daniel 5 says...



25 “And this is the inscription that was written:

MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

26 This is the interpretation of each word. MENE: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; 27 TEKEL: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; 28 PERES: Your kingdom has been divided..."



We see the name PERES in modern times too. Shimon Peres will bestow a medal on Barak Obama on his visit to Israel.



"President Barack Obama will be the first sitting American president to receive Israel’s Presidential Medal of Distinction, the office of Israeli President Shimon Peres announced on Monday.

“It will be the first time in history that a serving president of the United States of America will receive an award of this kind from the president of the State of Israel,” the office said in a statement, according to the Israeli publication The Times of Israel."



These could all be coincidences. But like Shakespeare we might ask... WHAT IS IN A NAME?



I watch for signs as you do. If I only watched and didn't say anything it would be at my own peril (Ezekiel 33:6). Might the same thing be said of the meaning of names? These are truly troubling times. We watch and pray for insight. We also share our studies in preparation for what the future holds. Having done that, I can only wait and pray that the rapture takes us home soon!



By the way I looked up Netanyahu. It means gift of God.
