Tradition of Elijah's cup during the seder meal (quoted from Chabad.org).

Cup of Elijah

"1) There is an open question in the Talmud whether we are obligated to have four or five cups on the night of Passover. Since the issue was never resolved, we pour a fifth cup, but do not drink it.

After heralding the coming of the Messiah, one of Elijah's tasks will be to resolve all hitherto unanswered halachic questions. Thus this fifth cup whose status is in doubt is dubbed "Elijah's Cup," in anticipation of the insight he will shed on the matter.

2) The four cups correspond to the four "expressions of redemption" promised by G‑d: "I will take you out from the suffering of Egypt, and I will deliver you from their bondage; I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. I will take you to Myself as a nation..."3 The fifth cup corresponds to the fifth expression of redemption which comes in the following verse: "I will bring you to the Land..." This expression, however, is an allusion to the future messianic redemption which will be announced by Elijah"

According to Jewish teaching, Elijah heralds the coming of the Messiah!

Back in 1998, when Elijah was in Israel, he placed the Ten Commandments on the bus stops on Jaffa Street in Jerusalem, and the Rabbis tore them down as they do not keep them. The next day he tried to replace them, and the Mossad threw him into the Mental Hospital and tried to kill him through their medicines and pills, But God had mercy upon him and he was released after 8 days and refused re-entry and since then, whatever government is in place, he has been repeatedly refused admission into Israel, even his own country according to his Jewish forefathers in Gilead.

A couple of years back, I was led to go into Israel to speak on his behalf to allow him in, but was prevented from speaking to any Knesset member either by phone or appointment, and when I went to the Knesset, there was an iron gate with armed guards, and was refused admission for lack of a pass to enter.

I went to the Great Synagogue twice to give out Eliyahu's messages outside the building after their service, but few would receive them or would even hear what I had to say. A couple of younger Rabbis did listen, but were ignorant about the prophet Eliyahu's expected end-time appearance, which amazed me.

Nevertheless, God has an appointed time for both him and Moses to begin their 42 months, Revelation 11:1-12, so he waits in expectation.
