A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit southwest Argentina Friday but caused no damage or injuries, the US Geological Survey and local authorities reported. The earthquake was "within the limit of moderate to severe, but it was 672 kilometers (417 miles) underground and was not perceived by the population,"

Nation's West, Midwest In Path Of Massive Winter Storm

NASA Sees Monster Sunspot Growing Fast, Solar Storms Possible
A colossal sunspot on the surface of the sun is large enough to swallow six Earths whole, and could trigger solar flares this week, NASA scientists say. The giant sunspot was captured on camera by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory as it swelled to enormous proportions over the 48 hours spanning Tuesday and Wednesday (Feb. 19 and 20). Iran denied on Friday Nigerian allegations that it had trained militants arrested in Nigeria on charges of planning attacks on US and Israeli targets there. Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said such allegations were "made up as the result of the ill will of the enemies of the two countries' good relations", Iranian state television reported.
