Psalm 27

27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

Psalm 46

In my devotions, my eye hit upon the words, "partakers of the divine nature", and I thought, WOW!!! so wanted to share it, hoping you will all be blessed by it.

God has promised to meet all our needs according to Philippians 4:19, and we take much comfort in this.

To go a little further in the striving to increase our faith, Psalm 37 can be of much help and absolutely full of hope and MANY promises.

But if we are going through a period of difficulties, this psalm of David will help to bring about hope and relief.


Three times this psalm deals with the subject of fretting, right from the very first word.

v. 1 "FRET NOT thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity."

v. 2 "For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb."

This is our first promise. God will deal with it.


Verse 7 tells us again not to do it: "......FRET NOT thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass." According to this verse, envy or hopelessness can enter the picture, reminding us fretting for this reason is to be avoided.


Once again, verse 8-9 deals once more with fretting:

".....FRET NOT thyself in any wise to do evil." Fretting can cause pain not only to ourselves but to others.


The beginning of verse 9 shows what can happen if we allow ourselves to descend into fretting, and possibly evil.

"For evildoers shall be cut off"


But wait, here is God's solution in that same verse:

"but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth

For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth."



Earlier in the thread I suggested memorizing certain psalms which would help build up your faith. I would recommend Psalm 37, especially verses 1-15, to be included.


You will want to note all the promises in this psalm. Taking hold on them in faith will bring God glory, and increase your faith that He can help you overcome whatever difficult situation you may face.


It also helps to remember we are spiritual beings, being one in Christ, being given to overcome the flesh and the devil.
