RED AURORAS
The apparition might be related to rare all-red auroras sometimes seen during intense geomagnetic storms. They occur some 300 to 500 km above Earth's surface and are not yet fully understood. Some researchers believe the red lights are linked to a large influx of low-energy electrons. When such electrons recombine with oxygen ions in the upper atmosphere, red photons are emitted. At present, space weather forecasters cannot predict when this will occur.

As many as six of 109 Awa village residents in the shelters have been taken to Maumere regency hospital suffering from various illnesses, such as respiratory, eye and skin irritation.

Egypt PM Hisham Qandil decries Gaza 'disaster'
Egypt's prime minister has condemned Israeli attacks on Gaza as a "disaster" during a short trip to the territory. Hisham Qandil, who talked to Hamas leaders in his three-hour visit, said Israel's "aggression" must stop. Israel mounted a huge assault overnight and Gaza militants continued to launch rockets. Air-raid sirens and an explosion were later heard in Tel Aviv.

2 rockets fired toward greater Tel Aviv area; none hurt
Two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip in the direction of the greater Tel Aviv area on Friday afternoon prompting a red alert air raid siren to be sounded in the city for the second straight day. Defense officials gave no immediate word of a rocket being located. Local residents reported hearing an explosion following the siren. No injuries or damage were reported.

Levin: Bill to Annex Judea and Samaria is Ready
MK Yariv Levin (Likud), chairman of the Knesset’s House Committee, told Arutz Sheva on Wednesday that he has a bill that calls to apply Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria that is ready to be submitted for Knesset approval. Levin said that if the Palestinian Authority goes ahead with its statehood bid at the United Nations, he will submit his bill for approval immediately after January’s election. "Regardless of the Palestinian move we should have applied sovereignty long ago," said Levin, "but the unilateral move by the Palestinians is a good time to do so.”

East Kentucky Earthquake Impact
The noontime earthquake, centered not far from Whitesburg Kentucky, jangled some nerves and did some damage.
