"How do we get out of this mess?"

If my people, … shall choose the best candidate and vote, then will I … heal their land.



Or does it say, humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways?



Or does it say, humble, pray, seek, turn, and vote?



If the land is in trouble, how can we vote our way out?



Or are these two mutually exclusive things (repenting & voting)?



Closed ballot voting is not “rendering unto Caesar”, the votes are not “rendered” unto the leader



Also, the vote is not a “custom due to the Caesar of the day”, either



We are to pray for our leaders, yes.



Throughout much of the Roman empire, where there was still strong Hellenistic roots, apparently there was no new testament church written to, where they were given instructions on how to be part of the democratic process for their government, or even for their pastor. If it was written, and I missed it, please help correct me.



The people in Israel wanted & chose Saul, but the LORD wanted & chose David.

The LORD raised up Pharaoh and brought him down.

Is democracy some kind of futile attempt on man’s part to attempt to circumvent the sovereignty of God?

Democracy came from pantheistic Greek city-states, not from the scriptures.



I’ve been very conservative, maybe closer to the “Borders, Language, Culture”, expounded by Michael Savage, and I’ve typically voted that way as best I could.



However, after reading all the posts lately on FiveDoves, I’ve come to wonder if that was just me in the flesh, being a good red-neck, patriot?

Where was the LORD in what I did? It was like Balaam asking the LORD if he should go, after the LORD had already told him not to.

He got a different answer, but that wasn’t good, as it led to his demise, eventually.



Or like figuring out on their own how to go up against AI, or on their own, how to deal with the inhabitants of Gibeon.



Can two walk together, except they be agreed? So then, I knowing how much I disagree with both candidates, I still pray to the LORD, and say that I know that they both go against the LORD, here, here, and here – but then I ask the LORD to help me choose a lesser of two evils? Would the LORD do that? How can he answer such a request? That is not how the LORD operates. He does not make choices based on lesser of two evils criteria – that is so worldly & ungodly. How can we ask the LORD to help us choose evil? Even if it the lesser evil.



That’s all us doing that, completely in the flesh, apart from the LORD. And then we dare say, “But I prayed about it” So what? It’s like people making up their minds to do something, and then praying about it, like we are trying to talk God into going along with our plans. The God that we attempt to bring into the Greek democratic process, is an idol, a God that we have framed in our minds, to fit with our desires, to fit into our world view, and to be party to our involvement in the wrong kingdom! The God of the scriptures is so different, that is why we make our own, and he has the same name, and is a lot like the God of the scriptures, except where we need him to be different – and there’s the rub.



I’m a redneck, conservative, patriot – so what? What on earth does that have to do with the kingdom of God? We are to seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness first, then he will add to us the things that we need. But like the children of Israel went after other gods, we err the same way by taking matters into our own hands, getting in bed with the world system, and partnering with them in their democratic process. It’s not the LORD’s democratic process. The children of Israel were not satisfied with the LORD’s way, they wanted to choose a king like the nations round about. We too, go the way of the world to choose our leaders, and then attempt to Christianize it, or sprinkle a few verses on it.



Then, we dare think that the LORD led us to vote a choice of evil, albeit the lesser evil, and then when it goes south, do we then blame the LORD for causing us to choose wrong? If the LORD’s choice is to move us to vote for one of the evils, then what about all the other Christians who also prayed, but are equally convinced that the LORD is leading them to vote for the other evil? This is madness, rebellion, and blasphemy – and most of us are guilty, and love to have it such.
