"Psalm 112: "The Upright" and "His Horn Rises High In Honor""

Dear Doves,

At www.his-forever.com on 6-15, F. M. Riley has a study of Psalms 112-119.

If each is correlated to a year for the last shavua (7 years) of Daniel's 70 Weeks, then 2012 may be the year of The Blessed Hope.

Let us look to Psalm 112, verses 1-10 for clues. At www.biblegateway.com some give headings or titles for this Psalm. Here are examples. Halleluyah! The Righteous Will Never Be Moved (English Standard Version) or
The Traits of the Righteous (Holman Christian Standard). Yet versus 1-9 are about the righteous while verse 10, the concluding verse, is about the wicked. The Lexham English Bible has the most accurate heading. The Path of the Righteous and the Path of the Wicked.

The character traits of the righteous are listed.

In verses 2 and 4 they are called "the upright." What is a literal meaning for the word upright? It is about standing up. On Resurrection Day, the righteous from the dead and the living will be standing, none will be still sleeping in death in a prone body position.

Verses 1-3 and 5-9 are about the upright, with an interjection in verse 4. This is related to one who comes in His light. "His light rises in the darkness for the upright." A special light related to a male person is promised to RISE in the darkness.

Verse 6 states "the righteous will be remembered forever." Might this imply a change of being, that they are no more, have departed, and are part of the past? In verse 9 we read about the person of a special rising light, a righteous person, in a distinctive way. "His horn rises high in honor."

In verse 10 we read about the wicked. Is this one wicked man or many? "The wicked sees it and is vexed (angry). Sees what? The rising horn. We read about themes of rising, exaltation, and honor of the upright. Yet all is not well with the anger, vexing, and resentment of the wicked about the rising horn and his light RISING in the darkness and the consequences.

Is the darkness spiritual as well as literal?

Does verse 9 spotlight The Ascending, The Rising, of the upright as the resurrected?

Psalm 112 begins the Psalms called the Hillel Psalms, The Psalms of Ascent! In Israel a horn was used as a trumpet (horn of the ram). Remember Paul's words? Remember we shall not all sleep..." A horn was also filled with sacred olive oil for the anointing of a King of Israel, like King Saul or King David. The Messiah will be The King of Kings of Israel. Christ (Christos) means the Anointed one! Does verse 9 of Psalm 112 refer to a special horn, rising in His Light on a special day of Ascending?

In Psalm 112 we see a clear Division or Separation between" the upright" and "the wicked who will perish." The word horn or horns occurs often in The Scriptures. Here are some examples. In Daniel 7:21 there is a beast, "the little horn". Luke 1:69 states he "has raised up a horn of salvation for us." Revelation 5:6 describes the lamb of God "with 7 horns."

Will the Day of Division and Separation between the upright and the wicked be a day before us in 2012? Concerning The Day of The Blessed Hope, Psalm 112 gives us clues to prayerfully consider. We shall see.
