First of all, thank you Gerlinda and Keith Davidson for your comments a few days ago, which were much appreciated!



Today I received a message asking for more scriptural references about Pentecost being in July.



My references are the Creation Calendar website and the Lunar Sabbath website.

In both websites, before touching the subject of the correct method of calculating when the Feast of Shavuot (Pentecost) is fully come, they first explain (with an abundance of scriptural evidence) that the 7th day of the ancient Hebrew week (the Sabbath) is not equivalent to the Gregorian Calendar’s “Saturday”.



With that explained, they present the fact that nowhere in scriptures does it say that Pentecost is in spring neither that Pentecost takes place in the beginning of the 3rd Hebrew month. Pentecost is a summer Feast that concludes the GRAIN harvest. The main grain harvests in Israel were barley (which begins to ripen on the Feast of Firstfruits, on Nisan 16th) and wheat (which ripens in the end of the 4th Hebrew month if we’re referring to wheat planted in spring, not in fall or winter. Scripture always refer to new grain not old grain). Only wheat planted in the fall gets ripe in the beginning of the 3rd Hebrew month. Wheat planted in spring takes about 4 months to mature and this can be confirmed by the Department of Agriculture.



The Feast of Pentecost falls on the 28th day of the 4th Hebrew month (also called “Tammuz” after the Babylonian exile). In 2012 this date will land on July 18th . Author Troy Miller says that it’s the 29th of 4th month, but I think the 28th is the correct counting, because the morrow after the 7th Sabbath (9th of Sivan) is already counted as the 1st day in the counting from 1 to 50.



In the book of Ruth, the story begins in the beginning of the Barley harvest (Ruth 1:22) and ends at the end of the barley AND the wheat harvest (Ruth 2:23). The end of the redemption process [which is the main subject of the Book of Ruth: a Redeemer (type of Christ) taking a gentile bride (type of the Church)] takes place on the Feast of Pentecost. This is a significant hint in Scriptures.



There were two silver trumps for the calling of the assembly: one on Pentecost and the other on the Feast of Trumpets. Most people think that the Feast of Pentecost has already been completely fulfilled but then I ask: what’s the meaning of the two loaves of leavened bread being lifter UP by the Priest? Nothing has gone UP to the Father on that Feast yet. In the previous partial fulfillments of that Feasts, things came DOWN from Heaven, not up. I believe that the Rapture of the Churth (Boaz getting married to Ruth) will take place on that Feast, whatever the year. Notice that I’m not saying that anything has to happen this year.



In the book of Revelation, Jesus appears in the middle of the seven candlesticks. The Feast of Pentecost is represented by the central lamp in the Menorah (as the 4th Feast, in the middle of the seven). The marriage of the Son of God is a central event in the prophetic calendar.



Below I present the articles that refer to the Feast of Pentecost, but first, the reader must understand the Lunar Sabbath explanation in the other articles. The day we know today as “Saturday” (in the Gregorian Calendar) is not the Sabbath of the ancient Hebrew calendar. Secondly, the counting of 50 days comes AFTER seven lunar Sabbaths are counted. The seventh (lunar) Sabbath after Passover was May 29th (8th of Sivan). Today (May 30th, the 9th of Sivan) is the 1st day of the omer (counting to 50). The 50th day of the omer is July 18th.

I think the correct day for Pentecost is May 27, 2012, not July 19, 2012.

I went to Creation Calendar.com and found that it refers to THE FENTON TRANSLATION, which I had never heard of in all my 52 years of studying the Bible and trying to find different translations.

Of the Fenton translation, Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrar_Fenton_Bible) says:

Since Fenton was a British Israelite, and thinks that the British are descended from Shem, that’s probably why I haven’t heard of the Fenton translation. I disagree with the British Israelites.

Rev 3:9 says, “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.”

MY REACTION

I will take what the KJV says over what Fenton’s Translation says. I went online and checked other English translations. They agree with the KJV. The morrow after the seventh sabbath is the 50th day, Sunday, Pentecost. Pente means 50, not 100.

“UNTO THE MORROW AFTER THE SEVENTH SABBATH SHALL YE NUMBER FIFTY DAYS”

Lev 23:15-17 (KJV) says, “ And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: 16 Even UNTO THE MORROW after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. 17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.”

“IN ALL, FIFTY DAYS”

Lev 23:15,16 (Wycliffe) says, “ Therefore ye shall number from the tother day of the sabbath, in which ye offered handfuls of the first fruits, seven full weeks, (And so ye shall count seven full weeks from the day after the sabbath, that is, after the Passover, in which ye offered the sheaves as a special gift, ) 16 till to the tother day of (the) filling of the seventh week, that is ( in all ) , fifty days; and so ye shall offer new sacrifice to the Lord, ( until the day after the filling of the seventh week, that is in all , fifty days; and then ye shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord, ) ” 17 You shall bring in from your dwelling places two loaves of bread for a wave offering, made of two-tenths of an ephah; they shall be of a fine flour, baked with leaven as first fruits to the Lord.

Dear Eliane, Yes, I now remember reading this piece of evidence before and yes, it does add up. Although disappointed for the wait, July 19th is just fine as long as it is this year. Thank you for re-posting the evidence:

I just want to share this study, be ready and watch (every year, because we don’t know the year) the date I believe is the correct Pentecost and not to be disappointed at all if next Sunday comes and goes with no important prophetic event.

As a matter of fact we should ALL be ready every day and do our best to share the Gospel with the unsaved while there is still time. Spreading the Gospel, loving one another as Christ loved the Church and preparing ourselves with holiness for the blessed hope is the most important thing we can do now.

I've been reading the additional info on new calculations of Pentecost. I found it interesting that Sunday
June 4 ,2012 happens to be our next full moon too.

Especially since several meetings of Dr. Owuor were cancelled/ rescheduled... I began wondering if looking to his conference dates might inadvertantly been leading us to believe we may know the day by looking to those conference dates.

Many people were watching for Pentecost commonly thought to be last Sunday.

Please help us Holy Spirit- We are to have our hopes in Jesus alone.
Keep us running towards the finish line May we always focus on Him & stay faithful while looking up.

The Leviticus 23 command in the Scripture is obscure at best when referring to the true count from passover to pentecost. There are many arguments that support and discredit your position, so we are in limbo on this I believe.

There is the account that Jesus was seen of the disciples 40 days after His resurrection. Is it 40 inclusive days, or 40 days out of 40 days ? There is also the fact that they have to add a 13th month to bring the lunar calendar in line with the solar. Then Paul's journey to jerusalem where he will ultimately be cast into prison does not add up for him to have arrived in the necessary time to make the Pentecost observance, if indeed he had only 50 days and not 100.

You are correct in one aspect, in that the harvest does not come in in the spring, but in the summer.

This is troubling in that then it would make for 3 spring feasts, 1 summer and three fall feasts. I have personally observed the moon cycles and they do seem to adhere to the www.lunarsabbath.com contention.

This inevitably would mean that the Jewish calendar is 30 days in length, and not the 29.4 days that has been previously thought?

Much to ponder. Will be looking at July with great expectation.
