Iran's Ambassador to Ankara, Bahman Hosseinpoor, expressed hope that the preferential trade pact between Iran and Turkey would be finalized to make way for free trade between the two countries, Iran's Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

The first asteroid, designated 2012 KP24, was first detected last week and passed within 32,000 miles of Earth on May 28. It is less than 70 feet across, approximately the size of a blue whale. The second asteroid, named 2012 KT42, zipped by at midnight PDT on May 29, coming within 8,950 miles of Earth. Earthquake could trigger San Onofre shutdown, officials say
Officials at the San Onofre nuclear plant said it's possible that vibration sensors in the plant's backup diesel generators could be tripped by an earthquake, leading to shutdown of the generators. Plant operator Southern California Edison reported the potential issue to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and said it has disabled the sensors while it looks into the issue. The diesel generators provide power to the plant and keep safety systems running in the event of a power outage.
