"Three Raptures - Exploring the Possibilities"

Hi Friends,

Today I have a book review for you. The book is Three Raptures - Exploring the Possibilities by Ty. S. Lamb, Xulon Press, 2007, website: threeraptures.com

This book explores the reasons why there may be three raptures, instead of just the one. He shows how a rapture can be associated with each of three phases or times in several books of the Bible.

I enjoyed this book and found it to be very thorough and well-researched. It presents the reader with many Bible verses which support of each of its arguments, but warns that the book does not present the three raptures as absolute truth, but rather as a distinct possibility that can be justified by various themes in the Bible.

The verses that oppose a three-rapture eschatology are given: Jesus' prayer in John 17, Paul's teaching in 2 Timothy 2, the Olivet Discourse, 1 Thessalonians 5, 2 Thessalonians 2 "that day", the reference to the days of Noah in Olivet Discourse, the overviews in Matthew 24:15-28, Mark 13:14-23, and the alignment of the trumpets problem in 1 Cor. 15:52 and Rev. 10:7 and 11:15.

The first theme, we are presented is that the raptures are based on the seven churches of Revelation: Rapture 1: Philadelphia and Smyrna, Rapture 2: Sardis, Ephesus, Pergamum and Thyatira, and finally Rapture 3: Laodicea. The characteristics of these churches can be shown to be like many of the believers in each time period represented by each church.

The three raptures can also be seen in the three harvests of Isaiah 28. There are three different harvests for the three types of grain: Rapture 1: Dill-Anise, Rapture 2: Cumin and Rapture 3: Bread grains, wheat, barley and rye. The tools that are used for these harvests are similar to the processes needed for each rapture.

The three Feasts of Israel provide another model for three raptures. Rapture 1: Feast of Unleavened Bread, Rapture 2: Feast of Harvest/Weeks and Rapture 3: Feast of Ingathering/Booths/Tabernacles. The author makes it clear he is not predicting the raptures will happen on these dates, just that there is a consistent biblical theme associated with them.

He shows how the three biblical virtues of faith, hope and love can also be correlated with the idea of three raptures. Rapture 1: faith, Rapture 2: hope and Rapture 3:love. He shows how clustering of chapters in Revelation can be associated with three raptures also, Rapture 1: Chapters 1-7, Rapture 2: Chapters 10-13 and Rapture 3: Chapters 14-18.

The persons who will be going up in each rapture are also described. Rapture 1: spiritually saved and mature followers of Jesus' commandments, who have surrendered their lives to Him and are repentant and obedient to His commands, Rapture 2: those who are spiritually saved but have been separated from God by apostasy and/or back-sliding and need some refining through pain and trials to reach maturity, Rapture 3: the spiritually saved, but immature, who are resistant to the process of sanctification and must endure the most severe trials, even martyrdom..

God’s Mercy and the Three Rapture Possibility



That was a very interesting article on exploring the possibility of three Raptures:

It is a concept that may take some time for me to get my head around. However, God doesn’t always do things as we think He will. As just one of MANY examples, we simply cannot comprehend the Lord’s mercy!! Therefore, I am going to review this article a few more times with an open mind.



As of now, I just don’t want to come to a quick conclusion. This is a VERY Scripturally deep concept with many implications. However, it certainly presents an intriguing possibility.



Regardless, I know you and all the Doves will agree with me on this. We definitely want to be on the FIRST Rapture Ark JUST IN CASE no other arks float by later on. Not only that, it is quite possible, if not likely, that waiting for the next ark could be painful, possibly resulting in sudden death by beheading by the Anti-Christ.



AGAIN, THANKS FOR POSTING THIS ON FIVE DOVES. This is a very interesting concept to have in mind when reviewing what the Bible has to say on the Rapture (or POSSIBLY Raptures).



BE EXCITED, MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST, OUR REDEMPTION DRAWS EXTREMELY NEAR!!
