Subject: The Timing of the Rapture

Hi Everybody,

I have been thinking about all that has happened so far and the timing of the rapture as well as the beginning of the 7 year tribulation period. Of course, we were disappointed that it did not happen on Rosh Hashanah. So, if it didn't happen on Rosh Hashanah, where did we go wrong?

I believe the key to all of this can be found in the midpoint of the tribulation point and what we know about it. We know that there will be a 7 year long tribulation period and at the halfway point the abomination of desolation will occur. The abomination of desolation is really going to infuriate God and all hell is going to break loose. Things are going to go from bad to worse immediately thereafter. That is why the second half of the 7 year tribulation is also known as the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord.

OK. We know we are in the last generation. We also know from Joel 2:31 that there is going to be a total lunar solar eclipse and a total lunar eclipse at the midpoint of the tribulation. Acts 2:20 also confirms this. Because we know when solar and lunar eclipses in the future will occur we can get a pretty good idea of when this midpoint to the tribulation has to be. Lastly, we know that the first half of the 7 year tribulation period has to be 1,260 days long.

There is a total solar eclipse on Friday, March 20, 2015. That date is also Nissan 1 on the Jewish calendar. It is also the vernal equinox, making it the first day of spring. There is also a total lunar eclipse right after this date, on April 4, 2015.

We know the second half of the 7 year tribulation period is 1,290 days long from Daniel 12:11. If we add 1,290 days to March 20, 2011 we get September 30, 2018. This is the eighth and final day of the Feast of Tabernacles.

So, March 20, 2015 would really work out perfectly as the midpoint of the 7 year tribulation period. If we back up the 1,260 days we know the first half of the tribulation lasts, we find that the 7 year tribulation period starts on Friday, October 7, 2011. That is this coming Friday.

Assuming that the rapture occurs before the tribulation period begins we might want to start watching the eastern horizon right about now.

We know that the anti-Christ cannot do anything now because the Restrainer is holding him back. Anyway, the Restrainer is believed to be the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit departs with the Church at the rapture. Therefore, my guess is that the moment the rapture occurs the 7 year tribulation period starts.

To narrow things down a bit further, Yom Kippur is on Saturday, October 8, 2011. That's this Saturday. Jerusalem is also ahead of us, time wise. The Jewish day begins at sunset on the previous day and sundown in Jerusalem is happening around 6:30 PM local time. Jerusalem went on daylight saving time so they are now 9 hours ahead of Pacific time.

So, why didn't the Lord come on Rosh Hashanah? Look at the parable of the 10 virgins in Matthew Chapter 25. That is right after Chapter 24, in which Jesus talks about His second coming. This is a parable about a bridegroom who is delayed in coming to get his guests for a wedding party. Sound familiar? We are the bride of Christ that He is coming to take to the wedding feast. Also notice that the doors to the place where the wedding feast are closed once the groom and the wise virgins arrive. In Jewish tradition the gates of heaven are open between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. If you are still not convinced that Jesus is talking about His coming for the Church at the rapture in this parable, look at verse 13 in Chapter 25. Jesus says "Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour." That is a phrase Jesus uses several times when talking about the rapture.
