MADIKERI: After 82 years, the Sri Ramakrishna Sharadhashram, established at Ponnampet in South Kodagu in 1927 is all set to get a facelift.
The ashram is being renovated at a cost of Rs 2 crore. A statue of Sri Ramakrishna will be installed at a cost of Rs 5.5 lakh at the temple on the ashram premises on October 27.
Swami Bodhaswa roopanandaji who is in charge of the work said: "To mark the opening, a threeday function will be held from October 26. The president and vice-president of Sri Ramakrishna Mutt and Mission will come from Kolkata for the event. The work is nearing completion." Senior monk from Kolkata Ashram Swamy Tatwabodhanadaji Maharaj, Swamy Deepabhayanandaji from Bangalore and Swamy Nithyathanandaji of Mysore are supervising the work, the seer said. The statue of Sri Ramakrishna was donated by Alemaada Sreenivas, a coffee planter from Ponnampet.
Swamy Athmasthanadaji Maharaj, president of Sri Ramakrishna Mission and Mutt in Kolkata will inaugurate the temple. More than 3,000 delegates from across the country are expected to attend the event.
