Majority of HPR, regional councils' elects collecting certificates: NEBE



Addis Ababa, September 14,2005 (WIC) - The House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR) and regional councils’ elects are collecting their certificates from the respective constituency electoral offices, the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said.

Press and Information Department with NEBE told WIC today that most of the elects, which represented both the ruling and opposition parties, have received the ID Cards certifying their membership to the HPR and the councils.

The elects who have not yet collected their certificates due to various reasons are expected to pick them in the coming days, the department indicated.

Some 21 of the 23 elects of the Coalition for Unity and Democracy (CUD) in Addis Ababa have already collected their certificates affirming their membership to the Federal Parliament, it said, adding that all except few of the137 CUD elects to the City Council have similarly been issued with IDs.

The Press and Information Department also said the list of winners for the Federal Parliament and regional councils in the Somali State and re-run elections that took place on 21 August 2005 was published in today’s issue of Addis Zemen newspaper.

The Board has called on the winners to collect their certificates from the Woreda Electoral Offices in their localities as of tomorrow.
