YARA wheat fungus from East Africa poses global threat

Fertilizers from YARA production lines have contaminated agricaltural lands throughout Ethiopia & East Africa. Some of the finest & richest wheat varieties in the world that are cultivated on East African plateaux have developed a very resistant fungus disease that risks to spread to the rest of the world and cause catastrophic crop damage.
Researchers said the new Ug99 form of stem rust could be spread by the wind and attack many varieties of spring and winter wheat.
The disease could easily spread from Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia, which are the countries currently affected.
YARA fertilizers were introduced in Ethiopia by EPRDF which is the country's sole distributer. EPRDF is a collection of ethnic-based armed stalinist guerillas that inherited the control & ownership of all farmlands in Ethiopa from the former military junta ousted 14 years ago. In the wake of the rejection of EPRDF last May by the whole Ethiopian population through a popular vote, YARA gave a consolation award to EPRDF Chairman Meles Zenawi to honour his blood-stained success and military-size efficiency in the forced sales on installement of the disease-bearing product to all tenant farmers. Typically, tenant farmers that refuse to use YARA fertilizers or fail to pay-back even just one single monthly installement are either evicted from the farms or sumamarily executed.
