some hard facts by Sereke-berhan

Some foreign governments are advocating the idea that the opposition should be satisfied with the seats they gained and join the parliament. They have no shame when they knowingly endorse corruption at the highest level. This clearly shows where their priorities lie and the version of democracy that they subscribe for us is quite different from what they want for themselves. As always, their motive is self-serving.

Do these people think that the Ethiopian people endured extreme hardship casting their vote simply to see their voices dishonored? Should Ethiopians resort to war to make their voices heard instead of being civil and disciplined? Should their collective power be underestimated because they chose the non-violent way? Did they make a mistake by taking advantage of their rights to choose the government of their liking? Why are they being pushed to accept the unacceptable? Why should they settle for less? Do they deserve any less than others? If an election were rigged would such behavior be accepted in Western democracies? Should the fact that democracy is young in Ethiopia allow it to behave in an anti-democratic way? Isn’t democracy about fairness, equity and honesty? Can anybody see anything fair, honest and equitable in a “Crippled Democracy?” What guarantees do the Ethiopian people have that the government will not continue to suppress all kinds of freedoms to maintain its power from now until the next election? Is it not clear that it is capable of tightening the noose? Hasn’t it demonstrated its totalitarian capabilities before and after the election?

Re: some hard facts by Sereke-berhan

It not is some foreign diplomat or government who decide on the fate of our country. In 1991 ofcourse , it was different, there was no organised opposition to lead our people and the country was left exposed to abuse by all and sundry and the power vacuum left by the Derg allowed the Woyane and their foreign sponsors to abuse our country.

Today it is different. The Ethiopian people are up in unison, from Moyale to Metama ready to defend their country from foreigners, who masquarading as friends of the Ethiopian people, infact, conspire against our country. They should well know that appeasing Zenawi's fascist regime is no answer to building democracy. Zenawi is a criminal agent of the Shabia who has committed crimes of immense proportions against Ethiopia.

Our enemies know that united under a strong leadership, our great country with its proud history has not bowed to foreign intervention who tried to undermine her honour and dignity of her people.

Today, our people are prepared more than ever before, to defend their hard won democratic rights and be the owners of their votes. Each ballot of the people is like an individual voice of freedom and justice that must be defended.

The people have paid huge sacrifices over the last 14 years to get to where we are today. The families of the victims of the massacre of june 8th 2005 still mourn their dead, thousands remain in the fascist woyane jails through out the country - many more are paying the price for our freedom, the sacrifice for freedom and justice is being paid and the Ethiopian people will be victorious.
OUR FATE AND THE FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY IS IN OUR OWN HANDS. THAT IS FACT.
