Pan African Organization Blasts AU Chair, Ethiopian Vice Chair

The African Unification Front (AUF) an NGO with African Union observer
status, has blasted the African Union Commission and called once again
for its reform.
This came in a commentary published on its website AfricanFront.com and
carried by Pan African media.
The call by the AUF for AU reform "in line with its constitution" cited
abuse of process by the AU Commission Chairperson, Alpha Oumar Konare of
Mali, in subverting and taking the role of the Pan African Parliament
(PAP) while sidelining it.
The AU Commission stands accused of playing politics instead of serving
the PAP, as is intended under the AU regulations.
The Vice Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Patrick Mazimhaka
of Ethiopia also stands accused of making callous and careless remarks
concerning recent elections in his state, Ethiopia, which is not in
keeping with the responsibilities of the AU Commission and not helpful
to the situation there.
In the recent past, the African Unification Front has also accused AU
Commission Chairperson Alpha Oumar Konare of being a traitor to Africa
and its unification mission because he invited European forces under
NATO to enter Africa, rather than organise African troups for peace
keeping.
Under Pan African pressure and the sensibilities of the memory of
colinialism, which lingers on given that those countries which have
plundered Africa not long ago have still not taken acknowledgment of
thier recent history of barbarism on the continent, and responsibility
for slavery which murdered hundred of millions of Africans.
The United Kingdom which is currently on a charm offensive in Africa,
not only has not taught this history in its schools, but recently
refused to apologise for slavery at a World Conference on Racism held in
South Africa on the "legal advice of UK government lawyers" fearful of
claims for compensation by the survivors of colonial theft, pillage,
rape and murder.
The African Unification Front (AUF) is one of the Pan African movements
active around Global Africa (including the diaspora) in gathering
African grass-roots support for African Unity and the mission of the
African Union. The AUF firmly believes in law and the upholding of the
resolutions of the AU, and advocates for more participation at all
levels of society in the march of African Unity.
However, these statements show the growing dissatisfaction and a
lowering of tolerance levels of Africans around the world for the misuse
and abuse of African leaders of their positions, particularly on matters
as vital to the future survival and welfare of Africa, as the African
Union.
