Dear Ethiopians residing in the USA,
It is expected that Congressman Smith is going to report his findings during his africa trip to congress.
Now is the time to contact (write, call, etc.) congressmen(women) and senators and inform them of the plight of our compatriots back home. Please let us watch what we write/say. We do not want to alienate those who could help the causes of the Ethiopian people by using undiplomatic/rude expressions. It might even be better that an experienced writer drafts a letter that we all can use in our communications.
My sisters and brothers,
Anger and frustration do not solve our problems. We have to be smart, focused and consistent in our efforts. We should not be too proud to lobby. It is not wise to stop lobbying for the fear that those with whom we plead our cases will not listen to us any ways. We have to keep asking, educating, and informing until they do listen, understand, and act.
Please let us also remember that we are best suited to support (not lead)the struggle of the Ethiopian people for freedom and democracy. Let us leave the leadership to those who are on the ground.
