Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and US Congressman Donald Payne held talks here yesterday on Ethio-US bilateral relations and other international issues.
Prime Minister Meles and Congressman Payne exchanged views on the long standing Ethio-US bilateral ties and other global issues, a Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Meles briefed Congressman Payne on the democratization process in the country in general and the current situation in particular.
Meles and the Congressman also exchanged views on the Ethio-Eritrean peace process, issues related to the Horn of Africa as well as the ongoing peace process in Somalia.
Congressman Payne told journalists after the talks that he and the Prime Minister held fruitful discussions aimed at strengthening the Ethio-US bilateral cooperation, especially in the area of the democratization process and economic cooperation.
According to the Congressman, they also exchanged views on other international issues.
