Why those who are asking for Dr Berhanu's head are wrong:
1. First of all, the whole issue is not whether the stance taken by Dr Berhanu or Lidetu is right or wrong. The question is whether process that led to the decision is democratic or legal. While I acknolwedge Lidetu is entitled to his opinion, at the end of the day it is the decision favored by the majority that will be taken by the party. (Don't forget Meless was against going to war with Eritrea but he accepted it as he was outvoted!!!!)
2. Yes we know the courts and the election board are biased and are manipulated by EPRDF. But as a party you have to first show the Ethiopian people and the international community that is indeed true. That will not only legitimizes your next course of action but also mobilizes a lot of people to your legitimate struggle.
3.At the end of the day, politics is about compromise and negotiation. You give and take. You can't have it all. If we have to go one step further, we need to compromise. We have to negotiate!!! It is barbaric and primitive to close your doors even to your biggest enemy. That is the prinicipe of modern politics.
4.By saying you don't go to the courts, becasue you don't believe in them, you are giving the license to EPRDF to ban and label CUD are an illegal party. That means nothing but giving EPRDF the excuse to harass, arrest, and kill not only CUD leaders and members but also who symathise with CUD. Threfore, it is the action of a responsible party to try to avoid this scenario as much as possible. Lastly, who is going to pay that price ? Those of us who live in Ethiopia!!! So those of you hypocrites living outside and demandig us and innocent teenagers to pay the price that you yourselves are not ready to make , please shut up!!! You have no idea about what is going on here and, apparently, know nothing about being shot in the street.
IF YOU ARE SCARED FOR YOUR LIFE, YOU OR DR.BERHANU DIDN'T NEED TO BE ON THE STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM. FREEDOM CAN'T BE ACHIEVED WITHOUT SACRIFICATION. IF YOU ARE SCARED DON'T BE ON OTHERS WAY TO DO IT.
THE POINT HERE IS WE ALREADY KNOW WOYANE'S COURT AS WOYANE'S NEBE. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS? IF WE CAN'T BRING A CHANGE OR THERE IS NO HOPE TO BRING A CHANGE BY GOING TO COURT, WHY WASTE TIME GOING TO COURT WHILE THERE ARE OTHER AVENUES WE CAN TAKE.
