Urgent Demonstration Regarding Gross Human Rights Violations in Ethiopia

The Ethiopian Canadian Community in Toronto is Extremely saddened by the climax of upheavals in Ethiopia that have consumed the lives of more than two dozens, crippled hundreds and arrested thousands. The killings, jailing and torturing of peaceful student protesters costitute a flagrant violation of human rights. By its deadly actions of last week, the government of Meles Zenawi has become a soulless despot, a graveyard of democracy and a catacomb of freedom. Inspite of commendable and abstract verbal commitment to equality, this government violates all the principles of international protection of human rights found in the checklist of democracy.

In view of this grave development in Ethiopia and cosistent with mandate of our Association to expose and condeemn gross human rights violations elsewhere in the world, we have organised an urgent demonstration on Monday June 20, 2005.

The starting location & time; USA Consulate (360 University Ave.) 9:00 A.M. Anticipated arrival time at Queen's Park: 10:00 A.M.

We appreciate your presence supporting the Ethiopian Community in Toronto in their hours of grave concern and indignation precipitated by the on-going gross human rights violation in Ethiopia. Looking forward to your presence,
Respectfully,

Dr. Busha Taa (President)
