Read And Truly Grasp The Reality!

The Ethiopian government which is committed to peace and economic development organized the election process to be democratic. It was as a result of this effort, hot debates on basic issues that determine the future of Ethiopia were conducted in various ways.

The ruling parity, EPRDF, put forward alternative policies on peace, democratization and fast economic development. It exerted every effort to make clear what the policies aim at and how they are already being put into effect. It produced a sufficiency of rational ideas on the definition of the prevailing problems. It looked at the problems in depth and proceeded with the spirit of the constitution of the country. Much of its efforts in the debates were encouraging the whole nations and nationalities to look forward and stand firm in the fight against the despicable poverty, ignorance, and backwardness of all kinds.

The opposition parties, by contrast, could not present alternative policies which can be embodied in democratic context. They were not totally in the mood to properly construct the true nature of the problems the country has faced. In fact they were intentionally concerned with confusing the reality on the ground. Their definitions of existing problems and likely solutions were fully contrary to the national interests of the country as a whole. They tried to push the people to look things within the idea and practices of the already buried political systems of Haile Sellassie and Mengistu. How?

Ø EPRDF’s determined struggle to crash the Derge Army was condemned as an act which left the country without any defence forces.
Ø The right of nations and nationalities which safeguards permanent peace, unity and equality was condemned as an act of wild animals.

Ø The heroic sacrifices of the Ethiopian defence Forces to safeguard the sovereignty of the country against the invasion of the Eritrean regime was considered as something useless.
Ø The promising efforts to expand education, health care centers, road construction, investment and so on were criticized negatively.
Ø Establishment of cordial relationships with neighboring countries was also condemned.
Ø Etc ….

The opinions entertained by the oppositions have no value what so ever in terms of alleviating the age old problems of the Ethiopian community as a whole. However, the uncritical support of some segments of the community has helped the oppositions to score some results. The results, in fact , have surprised the oppositions themselves.

Following the election which is witnessed by the international observers as free and fair and the announcements of the temporary results by the National Electoral Board, the oppositions engaged themselves in what could be termed as blatant false hood. They accuse the ruling party as a force of fraud in the election process. All their accusations can not be possibly true. Why? The answer is obvious . It is as a result of EPRDF’s consistent struggle for free and fair election, oppositions obtained the chance to gain some results in the election. Hence it won’t be wise for them to fascinate even their electorates with their dramatic lies.

Why is so much interest in telling lies being aggravated right now? One significant factor is that the oppositions observe the fact that consistent democracy is deepening in the day to day life of the Ethiopian people in an exorable manner.

This is so because the majority of the people of Ethiopia have shown their commitment in determining the type of political system from which they are the main beneficiaries. The positive progress throughout the country is pushing forward signifying the fact that any attempt in any form to restore the already buried oppressive system of “Comrade” Mengistu would not gain any currency in the minds of the majority of the Ethiopian People.

Another significant factor is the nature of the oppositions. They are reactionaries in the field of social development. Their main profession is creating fetters along the road of democratization. Hence they are not in a position to read the reality as it is and come up with positive mood to encourage our people. The fact that they strive hard to restore the Derge type of regime could not give them any energy to look forward and march side by side with the forces of true democracy.
