Re: Drug shortages (Getting the Information out to the Department)

Here at NPPA, we highly recommend you check the LIVE feeds from ASHP on all the current Drug Shortage situations (new ones, resolved ones, etc.), that we have available in a quick link on our website’s Member-Only Resources page (if you’re a current NPPA member).

Login to the Member-Only Resources NPPA website page (with your member login on inside back pages of recent edition of Pharmacy Purchasing Outlook, the official publication of NPPA):
-Click on “Drug Shortages: Current & Resolved” toward the bottom of that page, under Shortages & Discontinuations;
-Copy the entire row of shortages in its quick view there (or as much as you need to share),
-And paste into an email to share w/your staff and other dept’s in your facility! They get up-to-the minute shortages information, and you look like a superstar! (Note: You may want to do a “Paste Special/Unformatted Text”, to get a more readable copy but the links to the full information on the shortage will then be lost).
Also note: these live feeds only record manufacturer shortages, not the wholesaler stock-outs.

If you are not a current Full or Associate NPPA Pharmacy Buyer-Member, we hope you will also consider joining us as a member, so that you can join in our mission to get Pharmacy Buyers the recognition they deserve within the world of Pharmacy. Membership comes with 10 editions of Pharmacy Purchasing Outlook as well as other benefits, such as lower attendee registration fees for our Annual NPPA Conference held each August in Las Vegas. To become a new member or for more information, see our website's Join NPPA and Attendee Conference pages.
